Down Sleeping Bag for Expeditions and Professional Operations in Extreme Cold
This model is the Carinthia D 800X in size L (230 x 79 x 59 cm) with left-hand zipper. The sleeping bag is also available in additional sizes and with different zipper configurations. An overview of the available D 800X variants can be found further below.
Designed for demanding cold-weather conditions
The Carinthia D 800X is an expedition down sleeping bag designed for use in sub-zero temperatures. Developed for professional emergency response organizations and expeditions, it combines high insulation performance with comparatively low weight.
In size L, the sleeping bag weighs 1,750 g. The premium 95/5 snow goose down filling with a loft rating of 800+ cuin enables high insulation performance at low weight and with a compact packed size.
DIScover System with additional protective shell
The DIScover System developed by Carinthia adds an additional outer shell to the sleeping bag. This protects the down filling from moisture and supports insulation performance even in demanding weather conditions. At the same time, the construction helps maintain the sleeping bag's thermal performance over the long term.
The outer material uses water-repellent Pertex Quantum Endurance fabric. On the inside, Carinthia uses Shelltex Ultra, a lightweight polyamide fabric designed for the requirements of high-performance down sleeping bags.
Combined insulation with snow goose down and G-LOFT
In addition to G-LOFT insulation, Carinthia uses premium snow goose down in a 95/5 ratio. The blend of down and feathers with a loft rating of over 800 cuin supports high thermal performance at low weight as well as good compressibility. The natural down filling is free from silicone treatments and therefore retains its natural properties.
The H-chamber construction keeps the insulation filling in its intended position and ensures even distribution throughout the sleeping bag. Carinthia specifies a Comfort Limit rating of -16°C for this model.
Field-ready features and equipment
Features include a two-way zipper, an integrated zipper draft tube, a zipper cover flap and anti-snag zipper protection. An additional anti-pinch tape prevents material from being caught during opening and closing.
Anti-snag attachments reduce the risk of fabric catching in the zipper. Flat and rigid internal drawcords make the sleeping bag easier to operate and improve handling, especially in darkness or while wearing gloves. The package also includes a stuff sack and a separate storage bag.

Washing Instructions for Down Sleeping Bags
Down sleeping bags are machine washable (gentle cycle, max. 30°C) and suitable for tumble drying at low temperature. Before washing, close all fasteners, loosen all drawcords and turn the sleeping bag inside out. A washing machine with a minimum drum capacity of 7 kg is required. The gentlest cleaning method remains hand washing in warm water using a dedicated down detergent. After washing, rinse several times to remove any detergent residue.
Spin at a maximum of 500 rpm and then air dry, avoiding direct sunlight. Machine drying is possible at very low heat using the gentlest drying program. Shake the sleeping bag regularly during drying and loosen the down filling. Finally, allow it to air dry for at least 24 additional hours.
Proper Storage
Down sleeping bags should always be stored uncompressed to maintain the insulation performance of the filling. Ideally, store the sleeping bag hanging, laid open, or with the zippers open in a large storage sack in a dry, well-ventilated place. The down filling requires sufficient space to expand and recover.
The stuff sack should only be used for transport. Do not roll the sleeping bag; instead, stuff it into the stuff sack from the foot end with the zipper open, as repeated rolling stresses the filling in the same areas and may damage the construction.
