Lightweight Sleeping Bag for Warm Climates
The Carinthia Tropen 185 is a lightweight mummy sleeping bag designed for warm climates and humid environments. With a weight of 1,100 g, a packed size of 19 × 24 cm, and comfort rating of +5 °C, it is well suited for missions and outdoor trips where compact pack size and a balanced sleeping climate are essential.
The Shelltrans outer shell adds an additional insulating air layer to the construction, supporting thermal performance as temperatures drop. An integrated mosquito net further extends its suitability for insect-rich environments.
Lightweight Construction with High Breathability
The single-layer construction combines low weight with high moisture permeability, making it particularly suitable for use in warm climates. An additional air cushion is created between the Shelltrans outer shell and the insulated inner layer, contributing to improved sleeping comfort in cooler conditions.
The G-LOFT insulation is complemented by Thermoflect technology, which reflects part of the body's radiant heat and contributes to improved heat retention.
Weight-Optimized Mummy Design
The close-fitting mummy shape reduces the internal volume that needs to be heated, helping to keep both weight and packed size to a minimum. The differential cut supports the even expansion of the insulation.
The trapezoidal foot section provides sufficient freedom of movement without unnecessarily compressing the insulation around the feet. At the same time, it offers additional space for clothing or a boot bag.
Field-Oriented Features
The two-way zipper allows targeted ventilation through the foot section without fully opening the sleeping bag. An insulated zipper baffle reduces cold spots, while the anti-snag tape helps prevent the zipper from catching.
The mosquito net can be positioned using loops and secured around the face with a zipper when required. The Tropen 185 can also be combined with the Carinthia Defence 4 as part of a modular sleeping system.

Care Instructions for G-LOFT Sleeping Bags
G-LOFT sleeping bags are machine washable (gentle cycle, max. 30°C) and suitable for tumble drying at low temperature. Before washing, close all fasteners, loosen drawcords and turn the sleeping bag inside out. A washing machine with a minimum capacity of 7 kg is required. The gentlest cleaning method remains hand washing in warm water using detergent for synthetic fibers. After washing, rinse several times to remove any detergent residues.
Spin at a maximum of 500 rpm, then air dry – avoid direct sunlight. Machine drying is possible at very low heat on the most gentle setting. Shake the sleeping bag occasionally during drying; for heavy sleeping bags over 2 kg, the use of an industrial dryer is recommended.
Proper Storage for G-LOFT Sleeping Bags
G-LOFT sleeping bags should always be stored uncompressed in order to maintain the insulation performance of the filling. Ideally, store the sleeping bag hanging, laid out flat or with zippers open in a large mesh bag in a dry, well-ventilated area. The insulation requires sufficient space to expand and recover. The compression sack should only be used for transport – do not roll the sleeping bag, but instead stuff it loosely into the sack from the foot end with the zipper open, as repeated rolling stresses the filling in the same areas and may damage the construction.
