Description
Compact sleeping bag for warm weather
The Carinthia SOF 1 is the lightest sleeping bag in the new Fast & Light line by Carinthia, featuring 85g/m² of G-LOFT insulation, making it an ideal choice for summer use at less than 900g. The synthetic filling effectively manages moisture and ensures high breathability, providing comfort during warm nights. Designed for the military, this lightweight bag saves space in your pack and, when combined with other SOF models, forms a modular sleep system suitable for year-round use.
The SOF Sleeping Bag System
The SOF line comprises three models that can be combined for optimal adaptability to varying conditions. Individually, the SOF 1 provides a comfort range of +11°C and a limit of +7°C. When paired with the SOF 2, the comfort limit reaches -11°C, and when combined with the SOF 3, it goes as low as -15°C. In extreme conditions, all three models together provide insulation down to -24°C. For easy identification, each SOF model includes four removable color-coded patches. Inside, elastic loops are provided to attach optional liners.
Reliable G-LOFT Insulation
Carinthia’s success story centers on its proprietary G-LOFT synthetic hollow fibers. Much like the hollow fur of a polar bear enhances insulation, the air trapped within the modern polyester fibers boosts thermal efficiency and maintains performance, even in damp conditions. These fluffy fibers are processed as a continuous fleece, providing uniform coverage that withstands harsh conditions.
Versatile Design
The sleeping bag features a side zipper with a spacious hood that can be adjusted to fit comfortably, even when changing sleeping positions. The zipper is secured with a hook and loop closure at the top to prevent accidental opening. This hook and loop can be folded over when not in use to avoid snagging on delicate clothing. Available with either left or right-side openings, the SOF 1 is designed for compatibility with various bivy sacks and solo tents. It also has an internal mesh pocket for keeping essentials like a phone or headlamp close at hand.
Two-Way Zipper
The robust zipper on the right side allows easy access and is tough enough for military use. Equipped with two sliders, it can be opened partially to regulate temperature, ensuring comfort even in hot and humid conditions. When used with the SOF 2 mummy bag, the staggered zippers prevent cold spots, offering better warmth with less weight.
Durable Outer Shell
Carinthia uses a lightweight and abrasion-resistant polyamide fabric for the outer shell, making the sleeping bag suitable for standalone use in warm summer nights. Its high breathability allows moisture to escape effectively, ensuring an optimal sleep climate. The smooth surface is water-repellent and can be easily cleaned in the field with a damp cloth.
Differential Cut
To maintain the insulating properties of the fibers, the sleeping bag features a differential cut, preventing the outer insulation layer from being compressed even during movement or pressure on the inside.
Trapezoidal Foot Box
The SOF 1 is designed with a trapezoidal foot section to ensure a comfortable and ergonomic foot positioning.
Thermoflect
In addition to insulation through air pockets in the fibres, a breathable and highly flexible layer has been incorporated to reflect body heat, further enhancing the sleeping bag's warmth.
Ready for Transport and Storage
The included compression sack reduces the sleeping bag to a compact 14x20 cm, minimizing space in the pack. Both bags come with a removable color-coded patch, or the loop areas (3x8 cm) can be personalized with other patches.

Care instructions for G-LOFT sleeping bags
G-LOFT sleeping bags are machine washable (delicate cycle, max. 30°C) and suitable for tumble drying on low heat. Before washing, close all zippers, open the drawstrings, and turn the sleeping bag inside out. A washing machine with at least 7kg capacity is required. The gentlest cleaning method is handwashing in warm water with synthetic fiber detergent. After washing, rinse several times to remove detergent residues. Spin at a maximum of 500 rpm, then air dry – avoid direct sunlight. Machine drying is possible on very low heat in the gentlest program. Shake the bag during drying; for heavy sleeping bags over 2kg, an industrial dryer is recommended.
Proper storage
G-LOFT sleeping bags should always be stored uncompressed to maintain the insulation performance of the filling. The ideal storage method is hanging, open, or with unzipped closures in a large mesh bag such as the Carinthia Storage Bag Net in a dry, well-ventilated area. The filling needs enough space to expand and recover. The stuff sack should only be used for transport, never roll the sleeping bag but rather stuff it from the foot end with the zipper open. Repeated rolling places strain on the same areas of the filling and can damage the construction.- Lightweight summer sleeping bag
