With the new ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID Ws Desert, LOWA introduces the long-awaited and latest generation of its most renowned operational boot for women. Featuring a successful combination of the well-proven and breathable GORE-TEX membrane, tear-resistant suede, and an exceptionally ergonomic sole, this shoe is not only better but now also officially certified for operational use according to ISO 20347:2012. The particularly slip-resistant sole with optimal cushioning provides the necessary update, not only qualifying the shoe for dynamic operations and missions in varied and challenging terrain but also ensuring a firm grip on slippery and oily surfaces.
All the important features of the Zephyr have been improved many times over with the MK2 and ultimately perfected in many areas. Stability, lightness and agility characterise the ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID and confirm LOWA's high quality standards. Like its predecessor, the ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID Ws Desert is the right choice in any situation in official service or even on civilian microadventures in the forest and mountains. The ZEPHYR's improved moisture management also does a great job here, ensuring optimal performance even in high temperatures.
Outsole
The high-quality LOWA X-TRAC MILITARY sole stands out for its functional design and excellent performance under all operational conditions. Whether on wet, oily, or rocky surfaces, the specially developed rubber compound maximizes slip resistance, earning it certification according to ISO 20347:2012.
Midsole
The midsole, injected with particularly light foam, provides effective cushioning on any surface, which increases wearing comfort immensely. The various layers of polyurethane foam padding, moulded into an ergonomic shape and bonded to the upper, provide above-average cushioning and a special rebound effect. This happens thanks to millions of small bubbles that cushion endlessly under load and return to their original shape when the load is removed.
In the new ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID Ws, LOWA continues to utilize the patented LOWA-MONOWRAP frame, which envelops the foot and provides optimal support in all directions thanks to its three-dimensional design.
Inner sole
The blend of 9% polyamide and approximately 90% polyurethane combines excellent cushioning properties with outstanding dimensional stability, tear and abrasion resistance, and waterproofness. These benefits support a stable footbed, ergonomic comfort even during long use, and high-performance moisture management.
Upper material
Lowa uses a successful combination of hard-wearing suede and high-performance synthetic material. This gives the ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID Ws Desert a loose fibre structure with a velvety surface, guaranteeing excellent functional properties.
In the overall design of the second generation Zephyr, improvements have been made in surface processing to enhance comfort. This includes a revised seam alignment between the forefoot and midfoot, which helps prevent pressure points, particularly during frequent kneeling.
Upper membrane
The processed GORE-TEX Extended Comfort Footwear membrane of the ZEPHYR defies cold wet weather and hot temperatures. It provides reliable protection against water penetration and ensures unrestricted breathability at all times. This means that even the most adverse weather conditions are withstood and full operational capability is guaranteed.
Lacing
The two-zone lacing system of the ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID separates the forefoot from the upper. The two separate, adjustable lacing zones allow an individual and anatomical adjustment of the foot. This is particularly noticeable for lacing during ascents and descents. The closed lacing hooks guide the laces securely without them slipping out. This means that they do not get caught on undergrowth or clothing.
Functional lace garages securely store extra length in the laces, and the enlarged grip loops on the back of the boot ensure even quicker entry when wearing tactical gloves.
ORTHOTICS certified
The ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID Ws Desert guarantees an individualised fit with an exchangeable footbed in combination with the renowned orthopaedic insoles ErgoPad work:x and ErgoPad work:h+ from BAUERFEIND. As a result, the ZEPHYR is also certified and approved as a work shoe according to DIN EN ISO 20347:2012.
