Synthetic 3-Season Sleeping Bag
The Carinthia SOF 3 is the warmest sleeping bag in the new Fast & Light line, designed for maximum efficiency between pack size and insulation power. Featuring 275g/m² of G-LOFT insulation, it provides excellent warmth for autumn outdoor adventures in wet and cold conditions. Its carefully chosen materials and precise construction make this sleeping bag not only warm but also lightweight. Additionally, it can be upgraded by combining it with other SOF sleeping bags for extended versatility.
Flexible Combination
The Special Operation Forces sleeping bags are designed as part of a system to provide a nearly universal sleep setup. Each bag comes with four colored patches to facilitate quick identification for easy packing. With all three SOF bags in your gear closet, you can easily adapt from hot summer nights to alpine winter conditions. On its own, the Carinthia SOF 3 provides a comfort temperature of -2°C, making it reliable even around freezing conditions, with a comfort limit of -8°C offering extra buffer. When combined with the thinner SOF 1, it reaches a comfort limit of -15°C, and together with the mid-weight SOF 2, it reaches -20°C. All three SOF sleeping bags together offer a comfort limit of -24°C, creating a solid sleep setup for the coldest winter nights. Elastic loops on the inside also make these sleeping bags compatible with Carinthia liners.
High-Performance G-LOFT Insulation
Carinthia's G-LOFT insulation technology is internationally renowned for setting standards in cold weather clothing and gear. It combines the thermal properties of down with the durability of synthetic fibers. The practical memory effect ensures that the bi-component hollow fibers retain their fluffy form even after heavy use and repeated compression. Special cluster formation creates air pockets that provide consistent insulation, even in damp conditions. G-LOFT is lightweight, breathable, highly compressible, and provides reliable warmth even in the toughest environments. The Carinthia SOF 3 features a three-layer construction that achieves an impressive total insulation of 275g/m².
Superior Construction
The heavy-duty zipper features two sliders with generous pull tabs, allowing easy use even with cold hands or gloves. The second slider can be used for ventilation or as a leg opening. The zipper is equipped with a windproof cover that is secured with hook and loop at the head end to prevent accidental opening. A insulated flap behind the zipper reduces heat loss and, thanks to reinforcing stitching, prevents snagging. The SOF 3 is available with either left or right opening, making it ideal for use with corresponding bivy sacks or to prevent cold spots when combined with other sleeping bags. The hood has an adjustable drawcord, and an insulated collar prevents cold air from entering. Inside, a storage pocket is available to keep a headlamp or electronic device within easy reach and warm throughout the night.
Durable Polyamide Fabric
To withstand the rough conditions of military use, Carinthia uses a fabric that balances weight and durability. Its high abrasion resistance and smooth surface make the bag less susceptible to dirt and branches, while high breathability ensures moisture escapes effectively. The durable water repellent finish tops off the fabric's functionality.
Smart Design
With a differential cut, the sleeping bag ensures consistent insulation by preventing the outer layers from being compressed when the sleeper moves. This means that pressing an elbow or bending a knee does not create cold spots. Additionally, the trapezoidal foot box provides a comfortable space for feet.
Reflective Thermoflect Inner Material
In the core of the sleeping bag, G-LOFT insulation is complemented by a breathable, lightweight fabric that reflects body heat, further increasing warmth without noticeably adding bulk.
Always Properly Stored
To minimize volume in your pack, the sleeping bag comes with a compression sack that reduces its size to the bare minimum. To maintain insulation performance for the long term, it should be air-dried after use and stored uncompressed. The included storage sack is made of breathable mesh and also features a color-coded patch for easy identification. As a second storage option the two loops at the foot end allow for proper hanging.

Care instructions for G-LOFT sleeping bags
G-LOFT sleeping bags are machine washable (delicate cycle, max. 30°C) and suitable for tumble drying on low heat. Before washing, close all zippers, open the drawstrings, and turn the sleeping bag inside out. A washing machine with at least 7kg capacity is required. The gentlest cleaning method is handwashing in warm water with synthetic fiber detergent. After washing, rinse several times to remove detergent residues. Spin at a maximum of 500 rpm, then air dry – avoid direct sunlight. Machine drying is possible on very low heat in the gentlest program. Shake the bag during drying; for heavy sleeping bags over 2kg, an industrial dryer is recommended.
Proper storage
G-LOFT sleeping bags should always be stored uncompressed to maintain the insulation performance of the filling. The ideal storage method is hanging, open, or with unzipped closures in a large mesh bag such as the Carinthia Storage Bag Net in a dry, well-ventilated area. The filling needs enough space to expand and recover. The stuff sack should only be used for transport, never roll the sleeping bag but rather stuff it from the foot end with the zipper open.
