Description
Military Summer Sleeping Bag
As the lightweight model in Carinthia's new SOF series, the Carinthia SOF 1 impresses with its 85g/m² G-LOFT filling, making it an ideal summer sleeping bag or for hut-to-hut tours. The size L version is designed for individuals over 1.85m tall. The focus during development was on minimizing weight and pack size while maximizing compatibility with the other two sleeping bags in the SOF line.
Scalable SOF Sleeping System
The three Special Operation Forces models were created to offer maximum adaptability for different climate zones. The SOF 1 alone has a comfort temperature of +11°C and a limit of +7°C, making it perfect for mild nights. When combined with the medium-weight SOF 2, the setup reaches a comfort limit of -11°C, and using it with the SOF 3 extends the limit to -15°C. Using all three models together results in an impressive comfort limit of -24°C, allowing for even the coldest winter conditions to be tackled. Internal elastic loops also provide the option to attach sleeping bag liners, enhancing the system’s flexibility.
Color-Coded Patches
The SOF 1 comes with four yellow patches embroidered with the Carinthia logo and the designation "SOF 1". The SOF 2 comes with orange patches, and the thick SOF 3 with blue patches. These identifiers are located at the top and bottom of the sleeping bag, as well as on the compression sack and storage bag, making the sleeping bags easy to differentiate, even in a hurry. Alternatively, the 3x8 cm patch areas can be used for personal identification patches.
Efficient G-LOFT Insulation
Carinthia's G-LOFT insulation is a synthetic fiber that provides insulation even in damp conditions, making it ideal for professional cold-weather gear. This performance is achieved through the unique construction of the fibers, which works similarly to the hollow hairs of a polar bear. The finely engineered hollow fibers create numerous air pockets that ensure optimal heat retention. G-LOFT is lightweight, breathable, and highly compressible.
Thoughtful Design for Flexibility
The SOF 1 L Left features a left-side zipper and a generously sized head section, adjustable for optimal sealing and comfort. A hook and loop strap secures the zipper at the top to prevent accidental opening, which can be folded back to avoid snagging on delicate clothing. Thanks to a non-locking slider, the zipper can be opened quickly and easily in an emergency situation. An integrated mesh pocket in the chest area securely stores small items like a smartphone or headlamp, keeping them accessible and protecting batteries from the cold.
Durable and Breathable Outer Material
The outer material of the SOF 1 is a lightweight, durable polyamide fabric, making it robust enough for solo use in the field. The fabric's high breathability ensures that moisture can escape effectively, supporting a comfortable sleeping environment. The smooth, water-repellent surface is easy to clean and provides protection during light rain.
Differential Cut for Maximum Insulation
To maximize insulation efficiency, the SOF 1 features a differential cut. This design prevents the outer insulation layers from being compressed during movement or pressure, ensuring that the sleeping bag’s warmth is consistently maintained.
Comfortable Foot Area with Trapezoidal Shape
The sleeping bag includes a trapezoidal foot box, which offers ample room for the feet, allowing for a natural sleeping position that enhances comfort.
Thermoflect for Enhanced Heat Retention
In addition to the G-LOFT filling, a Thermoflect layer is integrated, reflecting body heat. This breathable and flexible layer boosts the sleeping bag’s performance without adding noticeable weight or bulk.
Practical for Transport
The included compression sack reduces the sleeping bag to a compact size of 14 x 20 cm, making it a highly space-efficient companion.

Care instructions for G-LOFT sleeping bags
G-LOFT sleeping bags are machine washable (delicate cycle, max. 30°C) and suitable for tumble drying on low heat. Before washing, close all zippers, open the drawstrings, and turn the sleeping bag inside out. A washing machine with at least 7kg capacity is required. The gentlest cleaning method is handwashing in warm water with synthetic fiber detergent. After washing, rinse several times to remove detergent residues. Spin at a maximum of 500 rpm, then air dry – avoid direct sunlight. Machine drying is possible on very low heat in the gentlest program. Shake the bag during drying; for heavy sleeping bags over 2kg, an industrial dryer is recommended.
Proper storage
G-LOFT sleeping bags should always be stored uncompressed to maintain the insulation performance of the filling. The ideal storage method is hanging, open, or with unzipped closures in a large mesh bag such as the Carinthia Storage Bag Net in a dry, well-ventilated area. The filling needs enough space to expand and recover. The stuff sack should only be used for transport, never roll the sleeping bag but rather stuff it from the foot end with the zipper open.
