The Carinthia SOF 3 is the warmest model in the new SOF trio, providing impressive cold protection at a low weight and compact pack size. With a total of 275 g/m² of G-LOFT filling, it ensures excellent heat retention, making it perfect for outdoor adventures in wet, cold environments. The carefully selected materials and intelligent construction make this sleeping bag lightweight yet highly durable, ideal for activities where weight is crucial. An additional highlight is its compatibility with other SOF models, allowing enhanced insulation for icy winter conditions.
Flexible Sleeping System for All Seasons
The three sleeping bags of the Special Operation Forces series are designed for maximum flexibility, enabling use in a variety of climates. By combining the SOF sleeping bags, a versatile sleep system can be assembled to provide year-round comfort, whether during hot summer nights or freezing winter adventures. Each bag comes with four color-coded patches for easy identification. The SOF 3 (blue patch) offers a comfort temperature of -2°C and remains reliable even around freezing point, with a comfort limit of -8°C. When combined with the lightweight SOF 1 (yellow patch), the system reaches a limit of -15°C, and with the SOF 2 (orange patch), it goes down to -20°C. Using all three bags together provides a comfort limit of -24°C, offering enough protection for even the harshest winter conditions. Additional elastic loops inside the sleeping bag allow integration of a Carinthia sleeping bag liner for further customization.
High-Quality G-LOFT Insulation
The G-LOFT hollow fibers return to their original shape after each compression due to their memory effect, creating air pockets that ensure consistent warmth even in wet conditions. G-LOFT is lightweight, breathable, and highly compressible, delivering reliable thermal performance even in extreme environments. The Carinthia SOF 3 uses a total of 275 g/m² of filling, making it a versatile three-season sleeping bag.
Thoughtful Design for Maximum Functionality
The SOF 3 M Left is equipped with a durable zipper on the left side, usable from both sides and easy to handle even in extreme cold, thanks to large pull tabs. The side zipper helps prevent cold bridges when combined with the SOF 2 mummy sleeping bag, and it is also available with a right-side opening to fit bivy bags, solo tents, or other sleeping setups. An additional slider allows optional ventilation in warmer conditions. To prevent accidental opening at night, the zipper has a narrow cover ending with a hook and loop closure at the head. An insulated overlap behind the zipper minimizes heat loss, and reinforcing stitches ensures that the fabric doesn’t snag. The head area can be adjusted with a drawcord and is equipped with an insulated collar to prevent cold air from getting in. Inside the bag, there is a practical pocket for storing headlamps or other essentials, keeping them warm and within reach.

Carinthia uses a polyamide fabric that offers an ideal balance of low weight and high abrasion resistance, making the sleeping bag resistant to dirt. The material allows moisture to escape easily, enhancing the bag’s breathability, while a long-lasting waterproof treatment ensures that water rolls off effectively.
Comfortable Design for Better Sleep
The SOF 3’s differential cut ensures that the insulation layers remain effective regardless of how you sleep. The inner lining is cut narrower to prevent the insulation from being compressed if the body presses against the interior. The trapezoidal foot box also ensures that there is enough space for the feet, enhancing comfort.
Thermoflect for Enhanced Warmth
Inside the sleeping bag, an additional layer of ultra-light, breathable material reflects body heat, improving thermal efficiency without increasing the bag's weight or pack size.
Practical Storage and Transport
The sleeping bag comes with a compression sack that significantly reduces its space requirement in a backpack. After use, the sleeping bag should be hung to dry using the two loops at the foot end and then stored uncompressed to maintain its insulating power. A mesh storage bag is also included, featuring a blue patch for easy identification.

Care instructions for G-LOFT sleeping bags
G-LOFT sleeping bags are machine washable (delicate cycle, max. 30°C) and suitable for tumble drying on low heat. Before washing, close all zippers, open the drawstrings, and turn the sleeping bag inside out. A washing machine with at least 7kg capacity is required. The gentlest cleaning method is handwashing in warm water with synthetic fiber detergent. After washing, rinse several times to remove detergent residues. Spin at a maximum of 500 rpm, then air dry – avoid direct sunlight. Machine drying is possible on very low heat in the gentlest program. Shake the bag during drying; for heavy sleeping bags over 2kg, an industrial dryer is recommended.
Proper storage
G-LOFT sleeping bags should always be stored uncompressed to maintain the insulation performance of the filling. The ideal storage method is hanging, open, or with unzipped closures in a large mesh bag such as the Carinthia Storage Bag Net in a dry, well-ventilated area. The filling needs enough space to expand and recover. The stuff sack should only be used for transport, never roll the sleeping bag but rather stuff it from the foot end with the zipper open.
