Third Generation Low-Profile Tactical Pants
The P-40 Classic Gen.3 continues the proven low-profile concept of the P-40 series with targeted functional updates. The focus is on a revised waist construction, optimized knee integration, improved ventilation as well as full compatibility with the UF PRO Waist/Flex System – developments that noticeably increase comfort, stability and adaptability in operational use.
Characteristic remains the combination of robust PolyCo Ripstop construction, bi-elastic movement zones and a discreet operational profile. New in Gen.3 is above all the stronger focus on adaptive load support, improved freedom of movement and modular protection integration, without changing the reduced, professional appearance of the P-40 platform.
Materials and Hybrid Construction
The main construction is based on a durable PolyCo Ripstop fabric made of 67% polyester and 33% cotton, combining high abrasion resistance with breathability and fast drying performance. The ripstop material supports long-term durability under operational conditions without unnecessarily restricting mobility.
The base material is complemented by strategically placed bi-elastic stretch zones in the knee area, seat area as well as movement-intensive zones around the hips and lower back. These areas support natural movement patterns during kneeling, climbing, sprinting, dropping to a knee, position changes or working in confined spaces and reduce tension without affecting the stability of the pants.
With a weight of only 0.74 kg (size 34/34), the platform intentionally remains lightweight and is suited both for extended wear and movement-intensive applications.
Adaptive Fit and Waist/Flex System
A central feature of Gen.3 is the revised Adaptive Waist System, combining stability and flexibility. Side-integrated stretch areas adapt to body shape and ensure a precise fit without pressure points or restriction.
In addition, the integrated 3D Lower-Back Support Pad in the lumbar area increases comfort and stability. It closes the typical gap between body and waistband, improves load distribution and is particularly supportive when carrying equipment on a belt.
Reinforced side anchor points also allow use of the UF PRO Waist/Flex System. Combined with the separately available belt, this creates a particularly stable yet adaptive fit for users carrying additional gear load.
Further functional details such as reinforced belt loops with press-button security, a rubberized inner waistband for secure shirt retention as well as the integrated attachment for an optional WINDSTOPPER inner liner underline the mission-oriented construction.
Mobility, Ventilation and Use in Changing Conditions
The hybrid construction of the pants is designed for unrestricted movement while maintaining robust everyday durability. Especially in dynamic profiles, the bi-elastic inserts provide unrestricted mobility without compromising the low-profile concept.
For changing climatic conditions, the pants were deliberately designed for multi-season use. In warm conditions, breathable materials and ventilation options support heat exchange, while in lower temperatures an optional thermal liner can be integrated via zipper, expanding the pants into a cold-weather configuration.
Knee Protection and Modular Protective Options
The P-40 Classic Gen.3 features external knee pockets for UF PRO 3D Tactical Knee Pads and can be configured with different protection levels depending on mission profile. Depending on requirements, Cushion or Impact variants can be used.
For increased requirements, the platform can additionally be combined with UF PRO Solid Pads to add protection against puncture-related hazards.
Pocket Layout and Low-Profile Functionality
The pants feature a functional 7-pocket configuration combining access, organization and discreet appearance. Two dual-access side pockets with internal stretch compartments provide fast access to equipment, while two front pockets with stretchable openings support dynamic use.
In addition, there are two discreet back pockets integrated into stretch zones, as well as a concealed safety pocket with zipper inside the left front pocket for secure storage of small valuables.
The lower leg width can be adjusted via a Canadian button, allowing additional adaptation to footwear or mission profile.
Differences between Gen.2 vs Gen.3 at a Glance
The Gen.3 retains the proven low-profile concept of the previous generation while advancing it in several functionally relevant areas. Particularly noticeable is the revised waist construction with integrated stretch zones, creating a more dynamic and adaptive fit.
Also new is the integrated 3D Lower-Back Pad, which improves comfort during long periods of wear and increases stability, especially under belt load. Also new is full readiness for the UF PRO Waist/Flex System, allowing additional load to be carried with greater control.
Pocket functionality has also been optimized. Revised front pockets with stretchable openings facilitate faster access, especially during movement.
Another major advancement concerns the revised knee pocket construction with mesh lining and ventilation capability. This improves both protector integration and airflow, significantly increasing adaptability to different mission and climate profiles.
