The HELIKON-TEX Chinook Jacket was developed as a versatile, weatherproof rain jacket for tactical professionals and dedicated bushcrafters. Its well-thought-out design combines reliable weather protection, functional pocket configurations, and a rugged construction with mission-oriented details for professional field use in temperatures ranging from -5 to 10 degrees Celsius.
Material
Constructed from a durable 2.5-layer laminate with membrane, the Chinook Jacket offers dependable protection against wind and heavy rain with a 20,000 mm waterproof rating, while maintaining excellent breathability of 20,000 g/m²/24h. The jacket’s construction supports a balanced body climate during dynamic movement. A water-repellent DWR coating, combined with sealed seams and a concealed YKK two-way front zipper with chin guard, effectively reduces moisture penetration.
Design
The ergonomic cut ensures a high level of mobility, even when worn with plate carriers or backpacks. The regular fit allows for additional insulating layers underneath. Adjustable sleeve cuffs with Velcro and a drawcord-adjustable hem provide a customized fit depending on layering and operational requirements. Hook-and-loop panels on the upper arms offer space for patches, IR markers, or unit identification.
An integrated, adjustable hood enhances weather protection when needed. Underarm ventilation zippers ensure effective airflow during high-intensity movement.
Storage
The jacket features multiple strategically placed pockets for structured gear organization. Two large front pockets with zippers allow quick access to radios, documents, or EDC equipment. The setup is complemented by two spacious upper arm pockets designed for sensitive or mission-critical gear.
The HELIKON-TEX Chinook Jacket performs equally well as a durable duty jacket for law enforcement and military personnel or as a functional outer shell for bushcraft, trekking, and survival applications. It combines tactical functionality with outdoor practicality and proves reliable in changing climates as well as cool, windy environments.
