Case
The tactix 8 features a 51 mm wide and 14.7 mm slim case made of fiber-reinforced polymer with a titanium back. The bezel is also made of titanium with a DLC coating that provides added scratch resistance. The watch has been tested to U.S. military standard MIL-STD-810 for thermal performance, shock resistance, and water resistance, making it suitable for diving up to 40 meters and extreme conditions in any weather. Weighing just 92 g, it remains comfortable to wear. Additionally, it comes equipped with a speaker and microphone.
Display
The 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels offers vibrant colors and excellent readability, even in direct sunlight. Scratch-resistant sapphire glass reliably protects the display from damage. Two adjustable font sizes allow for customized readability. Functions can also be easily accessed via leakproof buttons on the case.
Strap
Included in the package are a nylon strap and an additional silicone strap, both equipped with QuickFit mechanisms for fast, tool-free changes. The straps fit wrist circumferences of 127–210 mm and ensure a secure and comfortable fit, even during intense activities.

Battery
The tactix 8 is powered by a long-lasting lithium-ion battery that offers impressive runtimes depending on the mode used. With regular use of SatIQ technology in Expedition Mode, the battery lasts up to 31 days and up to an incredible 41 days in Power Save Mode. Charging is done via Garmin’s proprietary charging clip included in the package.
Operating System and Connectivity
With a solid 32 GB of internal memory, the tactix 8 provides ample space for maps, music, and apps. Connectivity is available via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ANT+, ensuring seamless integration with smartphones and other devices. The watch is compatible with the Garmin Connect IQ Store, where additional apps, widgets, and watch faces can be downloaded.

The SatIQ technology optimizes battery life by automatically selecting the most efficient GPS mode. Additional features like NextFork prompts, POIs along the route, and turn-by-turn directions provide a comprehensive navigation experience.

The Jet Lag Advisor offers recommendations for circadian adjustment on long-distance travel based on individual sleep data. Smart notifications ensure that emails, messages, and alerts are always visible directly on your wrist – even when you're on the move or under strain. The watch enables offline storage and playback of playlists from Spotify, Deezer, or Amazon Music – all without a smartphone. Garmin Pay supports contactless payments, which proves especially useful during operations, travel, or on the go. Through Garmin Connect and the Messenger app, routes, positions, and workouts can be shared even in remote regions, and SMS messages can be sent or received. In case of emergency, the automatic safety and incident detection feature is activated. The live location is instantly transmitted – a critical function when rapid assistance is needed.
