Robust Military Sleeping Bag with G-LOFT Filling
The Carinthia SOF 1 is the lightest model in the three-part SOF series, designed to meet the needs of professionals. With 85 g/m² of G-LOFT filling, this sleeping bag offers excellent comfort at a minimal weight of less than 900 g, making it ideal for long missions where every gram counts. Its high breathability and superior moisture regulation ensure a comfortable sleep in warm nights, while it pairs efficiently with other SOF sleeping bags for enhanced performance in different climates.
Carinthia SOF: A Nearly Universal Sleeping System
The SOF sleeping bags are designed to adapt to various climate zones through easy combination. The SOF 1 alone has a comfort temperature of +11°C and a limit of +7°C, perfect for mild nights. Paired with the SOF 2, the comfort limit drops to -11°C, and with the SOF 3, it extends to -15°C. When all three sleeping bags are combined, the comfort limit reaches -24°C, handling even the coldest German winter nights. Each sleeping bag comes with four color-coded patches for easy identification during packing. Elastic loops inside allow for sleeping bag liners to be added, further customizing the system to your needs.
High-Performance Hollow Fiber
The proven G-LOFT insulation excels with its bi-component fiber structure, creating a low-maintenance, durable insulation layer through numerous small air pockets. Similar to down, the fibers form clusters but offer superior performance in wet conditions by retaining their shape and drying quickly. This makes G-LOFT an optimal foundation for high-quality insulation gear, ensuring reliable protection against the cold, even in extreme conditions. The SOF 1, with its 85 g/m² filling, provides excellent warmth for warm-weather tours.
Lasting Comfort with Differential Cut
To ensure reliable insulation in various sleeping positions, the sleeping bag is cut narrower inside than the insulating outer layers. This prevents inner contact points, like a shoulder or foot, from compressing the filling. The cut also allows enough room for movement from head to toe, ensuring high comfort. This ensures that Carinthia sleeping bags not only perform well in laboratory tests but also prove themselves in rugged field use.
Side Zipper
The SOF 1 features a left-side zipper with two sliders, allowing for versatile use. The bag can be opened wide for humid nights or unzipped from the bottom to let the legs out. The non-locking slider can be quickly and easily opened, while a hook and loop strap secures the zipper during regular movement to prevent accidental opening.
Adjustable Head Section and Storage Pocket
With its side opening, the sleeping experience feels more like a blanket as the zipper almost disappears. The hood-like head section is adjustable with a drawcord, allowing for a tailored fit that seals in warmth, making it ideal for both back and side sleepers. A chest pocket inside ensures that items like a phone or headlamp are always within reach during the night.
Water-Repellent and Breathable
The new polyamide fabric stands out for its excellent breathability, allowing sweat to escape quickly and aiding in drying. Its lightweight yet durable structure makes the SOF 1 a standalone system for summer nights in the forest. The durable water-repellent finish also provides protection from short rain showers.
Additional Inner Layer
A thin, flexible Thermoflect layer inside reflects body heat, increasing the bag’s efficiency without adding noticeable weight or bulk.
Equipped for Tours and Storage
For optimal space-saving, the sleeping bag can be compressed to just 14 x 18 cm with the included compression sack. To extend the lifespan of the insulation, it should be air-dried after use and stored uncompressed in the provided mesh bag, or hung up using the two loops at the foot end.
