Fifth-Generation Tactical Insulation
With the Carinthia MIG 5.0 Jacket, Carinthia continues to develop the proven cold protection of the MIG series for modern tactical operational profiles. After the MIG 4.0 defined a new direction within the Carinthia Military Line with its reduced IR signature, ISO Mapping Technology and optimized weather protection, the fifth generation places an even stronger focus on the direct integration of personal operational equipment.
The result is a high-performance insulated jacket for highly dynamic operations in which reliable cold protection covers only part of the requirements. Equally crucial are a high degree of freedom of movement, rapid access to equipment and the continuous maintenance of operational capability.Revised Construction for Tactical Equipment
With the MIG 5.0, Carinthia has adapted the construction of its proven cold-weather jacket even more precisely to the carrying and operation of tactical equipment.
The most important innovation is the Side Access System. Two full-length side zippers extend from the lower hem of the jacket to beneath the armpits, providing direct access to holsters, magazines, tools and other belt-mounted equipment. This requires neither lifting the jacket nor opening the front zipper. In this way, the center of the body remains protected, while mission-critical equipment is accessible without delay.Further constructional innovations include a YKK two-way front zipper, which provides additional freedom of movement when sitting, driving and working while wearing equipment. The revised features are complemented by optimized internal mesh pockets, an additional internal Napoleon pocket, adapted sleeve cuffs and a hem adjustment that can be operated directly from the side pockets.
Targeted Thermal Performance for Operations Down to -15 °C
The MIG 5.0 is designed for movement-intensive operations at temperatures down to -15 °C. The moisture-resistant G-LOFT insulation used has a weight of 125 g/m² on the body, while 80 g/m² is used on the sleeves. This graduated construction concentrates thermal performance around the particularly cold-sensitive torso while simultaneously maintaining the necessary mobility for tactical movements through the reduced insulation volume in the arm area.
In the fifth generation, Carinthia once again uses the ISO Mapping Technology already featured in the previous model. The concept incorporates the different heat-loss characteristics of individual body zones into the construction and specifically balances insulation, breathability and freedom of movement. This helps maintain the most balanced body climate possible, even during changing levels of physical exertion.
Reliable Protection in Changing Weather Conditions
Carinthia SOF 2L is an outer material made from 100% polyamide with windproof and highly water-repellent properties. It provides protection against wind, light moisture and rapid changes in the weather. At the same time, the synthetic G-LOFT insulation retains its thermal performance even in damp conditions, ensuring that the jacket remains reliably operational in adverse weather.
A wind flap positioned behind the front zipper reduces the ingress of cold air. The integrated chin guard simultaneously protects against direct contact with the zipper. The lining made from 100% polyamide allows the jacket to slide on and off easily over a uniform or additional clothing layers.
Features Designed for Mobility and Rapid Access
The front zipper, which can be operated in both directions, can be opened from the bottom, thereby reducing disruptive material bunching in a seated position. This construction facilitates use in vehicles, increases the range of movement when kneeling and ensures that equipment worn beneath the jacket remains accessible.
Two large internal mesh pockets provide storage for gloves, a beanie and additional operational equipment. Due to their position close to the body, they can be used to warm damp gloves and assist with drying while the jacket is being worn. An additional internal Napoleon pocket with a zipper is located on the left-hand side and provides protected storage for important items or objects that must not be lost.
The redesigned sleeve cuffs ensure a precise fit around the wrist and support the combination with tactical gloves. The hem width can also be adjusted to suit the respective clothing and equipment configuration. The internal drawcord provided for this purpose is protected and adjusted through the side pockets.

The Carinthia MIG 5.0 Jacket has been designed around the operational requirements of military special forces, tactical users in overt and covert scenarios, vehicle crews and dynamic sport shooters. Its functional concept is particularly effective when movement-intensive and stationary operational phases follow one another in rapid succession and rapid access to personal equipment must remain assured at all times.
With a weight of approximately 1,150 g in size M, the insulated jacket combines durable cold protection with mission-oriented tactical functionality. Compressed to a packed size of approximately 15 × 28 cm, it can be stored compactly in a tactical backpack or carried as part of a vehicle equipment setup.

LIG, MIG or HIG – Which Jacket Suits the Operational Profile?
The LIG 5.0 is a minimalist jacket, ideal as a midlayer or for mild, dry winter days down to approx. -5 °C. It provides basic weather protection and good mobility, but only light insulation and no reduced infrared signature. The MIG 5.0 , by contrast, is a well-balanced all-rounder with an insulated hood, a practical pocket configuration and reliable insulation down to -15 °C. It is suitable for demanding outdoor activities in cold conditions and robust enough for tactical operations. The HIG 5.0 is the warmest of the three jackets, with an extended cut and enhanced cold protection down to -20 °C. It is particularly suitable for prolonged periods in extreme cold, such as during static operations or expeditions. -
