LIG 5.0 Jacket – Ultralight Insulation with a Technical Upgrade
With the Carinthia LIG 5.0 Jacket, Carinthia takes its proven Light Insulation Garment series into a new generation. The fifth stage of development combines minimal weight and a compact packed size with targeted thermal performance, improved weather protection and features consistently tailored to tactical movement profiles.
The result is an ultralight insulated jacket for highly active operations in changing weather conditions. It can be worn as a standalone outer layer in cool temperatures or as a warming midlayer beneath a hardshell in more demanding conditions. Weighing just 540 g in size M and offering protection down to -5°C, the LIG 5.0 provides efficient cold protection with minimal burden.Lightweight Insulation with Targeted Heat Distribution
The moisture-resistant G-LOFT insulation has a weight of 80 g/m² on the body and 60 g/m² on the sleeves. The heavier insulation around the torso protects the particularly cold-sensitive center of the body, while the reduced material volume in the arms supports freedom of movement during tactical and physically demanding activities.
The synthetic insulation retains its thermal performance and dries quickly even in damp conditions. This keeps the jacket reliably operational in changing weather without the weight or volume of a more heavily insulated cold-weather jacket.
ISO Mapping and New Quilting Design
Carinthia ISO Mapping Technology takes into account the different heat-loss characteristics of individual body regions and specifically adapts the distribution of insulation accordingly. Heat is concentrated where it is needed most, while movement-intensive areas remain lighter and more flexible.
A new quilting design reduces potential cold spots and supports an even distribution of insulation. The LIG 5.0 therefore combines efficient heat retention with the breathability and mobility required for highly active operational profiles.
Low-Noise Outer Fabric for Tactical Movement Profiles
The newly developed outer fabric made from 100% polyamide is lightweight and low-noise. It reduces disruptive fabric noise during movement, thereby improving the jacket’s suitability for tactical operations, observation tasks and covert approaches.
At the same time, the durable material provides protection in changing weather conditions without adding unnecessary weight to the LIG 5.0. The lining is also made from 100% polyamide and makes it easier to put on and remove the jacket over a uniform, functional underwear or additional clothing layers.
Integrated Packing Solution for Compact Transportation
An integrated storage pocket is located in the back and allows the entire jacket to be packed away. A separate stuff sack is therefore not required and cannot be lost during operations or take up additional space within the equipment.
When compressed, the LIG 5.0 has a packed size of just 15 × 28 cm. This allows it to be carried compactly in a tactical backpack, daypack or vehicle and made quickly available as an additional insulating layer when temperatures drop.
Adjustable Collar with Stowable Hood
The redesigned collar can be adapted to the respective operational and weather conditions. An integrated hood can be deployed quickly when required and subsequently stowed compactly inside the collar without permanently interfering around the neck.
A soft thermal-fleece inner collar improves heat retention and increases comfort when the front is fully closed. The material rests comfortably against the neck while reducing direct contact with the outer material and zipper.
New Front Closure and Internal Wrist Warmers
The LIG 5.0 features a new one-piece front zipper that complements the revised, weight-optimized construction. It allows the jacket to be opened and closed quickly and supports reliable regulation of the body climate during changing levels of activity.
Integrated wrist warmers close the transition between the sleeves and hands and reduce the ingress of cold air. At the same time, they support heat retention around an exposed area of the body without significantly restricting the combination of the jacket with tactical or outdoor gloves.
Protected Storage with Thermal Fleece
Two large external pockets provide sufficient space for gloves, a beanie and frequently required operational equipment. Their zippers are protected from moisture and dirt by cover flaps, ensuring that the pockets remain reliably usable even in changing external conditions.
The external pockets lined with thermal fleece can also be used to warm the hands. An additional internal Napoleon pocket keeps important items or objects that must not be lost close to the body and protected without obstructing access to the remaining equipment.
For Military, Law-Enforcement and Demanding Outdoor Operations
The Carinthia LIG 5.0 Jacket was designed for military special forces, infantry and law-enforcement personnel. It is also suitable for demanding outdoor activities such as bushcraft, survival and trekking, where low weight, a compact packed size and reliable insulation are essential.
As a standalone jacket, it provides protection down to -5°C in cool temperatures. At lower temperatures, it can be used as a lightweight midlayer beneath a weatherproof hardshell. Weighing approximately 540 g in size M and with a packed size of 15 × 28 cm , it can be flexibly integrated into different clothing and equipment systems.

The LIG 5.0 is a minimalist jacket, ideal as a midlayer or for mild, dry winter days down to approx. -5°C. It provides basic weather protection and good mobility, but only light insulation and no reduced infrared signature. The MIG 5.0, by contrast, is a well-balanced all-rounder with an insulated hood, a practical pocket configuration and reliable insulation down to -15°C. It is suitable for demanding outdoor activities in cold conditions and robust enough for tactical operations. The HIG 5.0 is the warmest of the three jackets, with an extended cut and enhanced cold protection down to -20° C.
