Carinthia HIG 5.0 Trousers – High Insulation for Changing Activity Phases
The Carinthia HIG 5.0 Trousers complement the HIG 5.0 Jacket to create a high-performance cold-protection system for operations involving changing activity levels. Designed for temperatures down to -20°C, the highly insulated trousers combine reliable heat retention during stationary phases with the freedom of movement required for patrols, marches and security duties.
Thanks to their fully separable split-trouser design, the HIG 5.0 can be put on or removed quickly over footwear and equipment already being worn. Durable reinforcements, a new suspender construction and the raised rear waistband systematically adapt the fifth generation to professional operational procedures in cold regions.G-LOFT Insulation with 125 g/m²
The high-performance G-LOFT insulation with 125 g/m² creates a durable thermal barrier for operations in low temperatures. It retains the body heat generated during active phases and supports cold protection as soon as the activity level decreases or extended stationary periods begin.
The synthetic insulation material is made from 100% polyester and retains its thermal performance even in damp conditions. This ensures that the trousers remain reliably functional during changing levels of exertion, in snow, light moisture and during extended periods outdoors.
Windproof and Highly Water-Repellent Construction
The Carinthia SOF 2L outer fabric is made from 100% polyamide and is windproof and highly water-repellent. It protects the insulating internal construction against cold airflow, snow and light moisture, thereby supporting reliable use under changing winter conditions.
Particularly in strong winds, the perceived temperature can be significantly lower than the measured ambient temperature. The windproof outer construction limits this additional cooling effect and helps the G-LOFT insulation retain the thermal barrier built up inside the trousers for as long as possible.
The lining is also made from 100% polyamide and supports donning and removal over a uniform, functional underwear or additional clothing layers. The combination of materials combines moisture-resistant insulation with a durable outer and inner construction designed for professional operational conditions.
Split-Trouser Design for Quick Donning and Removal
A key feature of the fifth generation is the split-trouser design with fully separable side zippers. The zippers extend along the entire length of the legs and allow the trousers to be put on and removed quickly without having to take off tactical or winter boots first.
Equipment already being worn does not present an obstacle either. This allows the HIG 5.0 to be put on immediately as an additional insulation layer or removed again in response to changes in weather, activity level or the tactical situation.
Lateral Two-Way Zippers with Wind Protection
The lateral zippers feature a two-way system and can be opened from different positions as required. This not only makes the trousers easier to put on and remove but also provides targeted access to clothing and equipment worn underneath.
Integrated wind protection reduces the ingress of cold air along the lateral closures. This keeps the trousers’ thermal protection as consistent as possible in windy conditions and when the zippers are fully closed.
Reinforced High-Wear and Contact Zones
Durable reinforcements at the knees and seat increase durability during repeated movements and activities performed while sitting, kneeling or close to the ground. They protect the outer material in particularly exposed areas against premature wear caused by the ground, vehicle components and personal equipment.
Additional reinforcements at the leg openings and around the ankles account for the high level of mechanical stress caused by footwear, terrain and repeated contact between the trouser legs. This ensures that the construction remains durable during marches, changes of position and extended operational periods.
New Suspender Construction for Active Movement
The revised suspender construction ensures a secure and controlled fit during active movement. It stabilizes the insulated trousers during marches, while kneeling and when transitioning between standing, seated and crouched positions.
The even support reduces the trousers from slipping, even during extended wear and changing levels of exertion. At the same time, the construction supports comfort when combined with additional winter clothing and tactical equipment.
High Waistband to Protect the Kidney Area
The raised rear waistband protects the sensitive kidney and lower back area during movement and while crouching. It maintains the overlap between the trousers and outer garments and prevents an unprotected gap from forming during changes of position.
Combined with the HIG 5.0 Jacket, the high waistband creates the most continuous possible insulation zone around the core of the body. At the same time, it limits the ingress of cold air into the clothing system.
Protected Seat Pocket for Important Equipment
A rear pocket with a concealed zipper provides protected storage for flat, important items or objects that must not be lost. The closure keeps the contents securely in place even during active movement.
An additional zipper garage covers the slider when closed. This reduces the risk of accidental opening and provides better protection for the zipper against dirt, snow and mechanical contact.
With a weight of approximately 710 g in size M, the trousers provide high insulation performance at an overall weight tailored to movement-oriented operations. The packed size of approximately 18 × 31 cm allows them to be stored in an operational backpack, winter luggage or a vehicle.
