Carinthia HIG 5.0 Trousers Lady – Cold Protection Down to -20°C
The Carinthia HIG 5.0 Trousers Lady complement the HIG 5.0 Jacket Lady to create a high-performance cold-protection system for changing activity phases. The construction, specifically adapted to the female anatomy, combines a close-to-body fit with reliable heat retention and a high degree of freedom of movement at temperatures down to -20°C.
As highly insulated operational trousers, the HIG 5.0 Trousers Lady are designed for patrols, marches and active changes of position as well as for extended security, observation and rest phases. Full-length, fully separable side zippers allow the trousers to be put on and removed quickly over footwear and equipment already being worn.Tailored Fit for the Female Anatomy
The anatomically optimized women’s fit takes the proportions of the female body into account and ensures a controlled, comfortable fit. The close-to-body cut reduces excess material and supports a feminine silhouette without restricting freedom of movement during tactical activities.
The fit-specific construction also improves the positioning of the insulating layers against the body. This maintains consistent thermal performance during changing activity levels while ensuring that the trousers remain securely in place during marches and while kneeling or crouching.
High Insulation for Changing Levels of Exertion
The HIG 5.0 Trousers Lady were developed for operational profiles in which active movement and stationary phases alternate in rapid succession. The construction supports the necessary mobility during patrols, marches and changes of position while providing reliable protection against heat loss when activity levels decrease.
The trousers therefore complement the HIG 5.0 Jacket Lady to create a coordinated full-body insulation system. The functional focus is on a balanced combination of high thermal performance, a secure fit and operational mobility down to -20°C.
Coordinated Insulation and Material Construction
The high-performance G-LOFT insulation with 125 g/m² creates a durable thermal barrier for operations in low temperatures. It retains the body heat generated during active phases and limits heat loss as soon as activity levels decrease or extended stationary periods begin.
The synthetic insulation material is made from 100% polyester and retains its thermal performance even in damp conditions. This ensures that the HIG 5.0 Trousers Lady remain reliably functional in snow, light moisture, under changing levels of physical exertion and during extended periods outdoors.
The windproof and highly water-repellent Carinthia SOF 2L outer fabric made from 100% polyamide serves as the outer protective layer. It protects the insulation against cold airflow, snow and light moisture, thereby helping to retain the thermal barrier created inside the trousers.
Strong winds can reduce the perceived temperature significantly below the measured ambient temperature. The windproof outer construction limits this additional cooling effect and improves thermal protection during exposed operational phases.
The lining made from 100% polyamide completes the durable material construction. Its smooth surface makes it easier to put the trousers on and remove them over functional underwear, a uniform or additional clothing layers.
Fully Separable Construction
The full-length side zippers extending along the entire length of the legs allow the trousers to be opened completely. This enables the HIG 5.0 Trousers Lady to be put on or removed quickly without having to take off tactical or winter boots first.
Equipment already being worn does not need to be removed completely for the clothing change either. The insulated trousers can therefore be added immediately when falling temperatures or an upcoming stationary phase require additional cold protection.
Two-Way Zippers with Wind Protection
The lateral closures are designed as two-way zippers and can be opened from different directions depending on the situation and equipment. This supports quick donning and removal while also providing access to clothing or equipment worn underneath as required.
Integrated wind protection reduces the ingress of cold air along the lateral closures. When the zippers are fully closed, the insulating performance of the trousers therefore remains as consistent as possible, even in windy conditions.
Reinforcements in High-Wear Contact Zones
Hard-wearing reinforcements at the knees and seat increase durability during repeated movements and activities performed while sitting, kneeling or close to the ground. They protect the outer material against premature wear caused by the ground, vehicle components and personal operational equipment.
Additional reinforcements at the leg openings and around the ankles account for the high mechanical stress caused by terrain, footwear and friction between the trouser legs. This ensures that the construction remains durable even during extended marches and frequent changes of position.
New Suspender Construction for a Secure Fit
The revised suspender construction stabilizes the insulated trousers during active movement. It ensures a controlled fit during marches, while kneeling and when transitioning between standing, seated and crouched positions.
The even support reduces slipping during extended wear and under changing levels of physical exertion. At the same time, it supports the anatomically adapted fit and facilitates combination with additional winter clothing and tactical equipment.
High Waistband to Protect the Kidney Area
The raised rear waistband reliably covers the sensitive kidney and lower back area. It maintains the overlap between the trousers and outer garments during movement and while kneeling or crouching.
This prevents an unprotected gap from forming between the individual clothing layers during tactical changes of position. Combined with the HIG 5.0 Jacket Lady, the high waistband creates the most continuous possible insulation zone around the core of the body and limits the ingress of cold air.
Protected Seat Pocket
A rear pocket with a concealed zipper provides secure storage for flat, important items or objects that must not be lost. The closed zipper reliably keeps the contents in place during active movement and frequent changes of position.
An additional zipper garage covers the slider when closed. It reduces the risk of accidental opening and protects the closure against snow, dirt and mechanical contact.
With a weight of approximately 710 g in size M, the HIG 5.0 Trousers Lady combine high insulation performance with an overall weight tailored to active operational profiles. Compressed to a packed size of approximately 18 × 31 cm, they can be transported compactly in an operational backpack, winter luggage or a vehicle.
