The Practitioner AR Jacket is the new Arcteryx softshell jacket with superior performance. With the best possible combination of innovative materials and after a heart-and-knee test for performance and functionality, Arcteryx has combined two in-house material technologies here: Arcteryx's proprietary Fortius Air 50 of the shell is a highly breathable fabric designed specifically for use in extreme weather conditions, offering durability and weather protection.
In this context, the hydrophobic Octa Loft insulation, an Arcteryx proprietary material innovation as well, guarantees excellent thermal performance combined with light weight and breathability. Fortius Air 50
The material technology trick of the Practitioner AR Jacket lies in the combination of materials. The shell is made of Arcteryx's Fortius Air 50 fabric; it is 84% nylon and 16% elastane and is extremely durable and long-lasting. Designed for use in extreme weather conditions, this highly breathable fabric provides optimal moisture management by wicking moisture and vapor to the outside. The Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating on the shell adds reliable protection from moisture and humidity, so there's also strong weather protection.
Octa Loft Insulation
Finally, the strong outer membrane is complemented by Octa Loft insulation. The hydrophobic insulation consists of eight hollow fibers that create a unique air pocket structure that allows for excellent heat retention. The fiber structure makes the insulating layer extremely lightweight and compressible without limiting breathability. This creates the perfect balance between thermal performance and comfort.
Hem and pockets
The jacket features a long No Slip Zip front zipper that allows it to be fully opened; the zipper closes with the stand-up collar. The zipper is also protected against wind and moisture penetration thanks to the covers inside. The two chest pockets and two zippered hand pockets provide ample storage space for essential gear, while the jacket's slightly tapered hem provides extra protection to keep the back warm even in kneeling or sitting positions.
For cold and wet weather protection, the jacket's sleeves feature stretch knit cuffs that can be adjusted to fit with Cohaesive hem adjusters. The hem of the jacket tapers slightly toward the front, keeping the back covered and warm even when kneeling or sitting.
