Down Sleeping Bag for Expeditions and Winter Operations
Designed for expeditions, winter bivouacs and extended stays in cold climates, the XP Down 1000 combines high-performance down insulation with a comfort limit temperature of -20°C and a comparatively compact pack size.
The sleeping bag measures 220 x 85 x 60 cm and weighs 1,700 g. The compressed pack size of 25 x 30 cm facilitates transport in a backpack or expedition equipment. The XP Down 1000 is also available in size L.
High-quality goose down insulation with high loft
The insulation is based on a premium 90/10 goose down fill. The high down content supports efficient thermal performance while maintaining low weight and excellent compressibility, while the feather content contributes to the stability of the insulation.
With a guaranteed fill power of 600 cuin, the down achieves high loft at minimal weight. This allows the sleeping bag to be compressed into a compact size and fully regain its loft after unpacking.
Thoughtful construction for reliable heat retention
The pre-shaped hood with drawcord adjustment allows the face opening to be individually adjusted and helps reduce heat loss around the head. Especially in low temperatures, this design contributes to more efficient heat retention.
A generously sized zipper draft tube minimizes the ingress of cold air. It is complemented by an external zipper cover flap that provides additional protection against wind and moisture.
Field-ready features for expeditions and winter bivouacs
The centrally positioned two-way zipper enables flexible ventilation and facilitates access to the sleeping bag. The integrated anti-snag tape reduces the risk of fabric becoming trapped when opening or closing the zipper.
The trapezoidal foot section improves space utilization in the foot area and supports an ergonomic sleeping position. A stuff sack for transport and a separate storage sack for long-term storage are included.
Differential cut for reduced cold spots
The XP Down 1000 features a differential cut, where the inner and outer shell are dimensioned differently. This prevents the down insulation from being compressed under load and losing insulating performance.
The construction supports the even expansion of the insulation and helps reduce cold spots within the sleeping bag.
Washing Instructions for Down Sleeping Bags
Down sleeping bags are machine washable (gentle cycle, max. 30°C) and suitable for tumble drying at low temperature. Before washing, close all fasteners, loosen all drawcords and turn the sleeping bag inside out. A washing machine with a minimum drum capacity of 7 kg is required. The gentlest cleaning method remains hand washing in warm water using a dedicated down detergent. After washing, rinse several times to remove any detergent residue.
Spin at a maximum of 500 rpm and then air dry, avoiding direct sunlight. Machine drying is possible at very low heat using the gentlest drying program. Shake the sleeping bag regularly during drying and loosen the down filling. Finally, allow it to air dry for at least 24 additional hours.
Proper Storage
Down sleeping bags should always be stored uncompressed to maintain the insulation performance of the filling. Ideally, store the sleeping bag hanging, laid open, or with the zippers open in a large storage sack in a dry, well-ventilated place. The down filling requires sufficient space to expand and recover.
The stuff sack should only be used for transport. Do not roll the sleeping bag; instead, stuff it into the stuff sack from the foot end with the zipper open, as repeated rolling stresses the filling in the same areas and may damage the construction.
