The result: noticeably increased performance, greater durability, and enhanced functionality – purpose-built for operations in freezing temperatures and harsh weather conditions. Even in high winds and severe cold, the jacket remains fully mission-ready, allowing cold-weather tasks and deployments to be carried out with maximum efficiency.
  
  

  Precisely engineered material architecture

  Its exceptional thermal regulation is based on a carefully balanced combination of advanced materials. At its core, a Climashield insulation layer with DWR coating ensures long-lasting protection against moisture. The outer shell features the new Gore-Tex Infinium Windstopper as a two-layer laminate – providing outstanding windproofing and excellent resistance to rain and snow. This interplay of technologies guarantees reliable warmth without compromising breathability. Thanks to the lightweight synthetic fiber structure, full mobility is maintained – delivering impressive thermal performance at minimal weight and unrestricted freedom of movement.
  
  

  Operationally relevant design details

  Instead of a hood, the Gen 2.1 features a high collar for maximum protection and increased flexibility. The full-length front zipper extends up to the top edge of the collar and uses the proven No Slip Zip technology, preventing accidental opening and ensuring consistent heat retention. Another core feature is the vertical hem design, developed by Arc’teryx specifically for the Cold WX series. This construction allows individual adjustment and prevents snagging on gear or vegetation – a clear advantage during high-mobility or tactical operations.

  The storage layout is engineered for both function and thermal efficiency: two side hand pockets are fully insulated with Climashield, making them ideal for keeping hands warm.
