Tactical Winter Boot for Extreme Conditions
The Salomon Toundra Forces CSWP is a tactical winter boot used by military personnel and police forces. It is completely waterproof, insulated for temperatures down to -40°, and its outsole provides ideal grip on snow and ice.
Robust and Flexible Upper Material
The upper combines polyurethane-coated leather with anti-debris mesh and single-layer mesh, making the boot particularly durable.
Anti-Debris Mesh
The anti-debris mesh is a key component in the construction of the Salomon Toundra Forces CSWP, specifically designed to prevent the penetration of dirt and foreign particles into the boot. This mesh variant features a very fine mesh size that is large enough to ensure optimal breathability, yet small enough to effectively block dirt, sand, and small stones. This feature is especially important in tactical and military environments, where cleanliness and functionality of the shoe are essential for maintaining the mobility and comfort of the wearer.
Polyurethane-Coated Leather
Polyurethane leather is a type of plastic applied to the surface of the leather to form an additional protective layer. This layer makes the leather more resistant to abrasion and mechanical damage.
The PU coating is water-repellent and prevents water from penetrating the leather. This keeps the feet dry and improves wearing comfort.
The smooth surface of the PU coating makes the shoe easier to clean and maintain. Dirt and mud adhere less to the surface and can simply be wiped off with a damp cloth.
Aerotherm Insulation Technology
Salomon's Aerotherm Insulation Technology is a highly developed insulation solution specifically designed for extreme cold conditions. This technology utilizes aerogel, a material known for its exceptional insulating properties. Aerogel is primarily made of silica and is extremely lightweight, as it consists of up to 90% air. It has a very low thermal conductivity, making it one of the most effective insulating materials. Incorporated into shoes, it helps to retain body heat and keep feet warm even at extremely low temperatures.
Despite its high insulation capacity, aerogel is very lightweight. This is particularly important in tactical boots designed for long wear times or active engagements, as it helps minimize foot fatigue. Aerother insulation provides effective insulation in a thin, flexible format. This allows for a better fit and more freedom of movement in the shoe without sacrificing thermal protection.
Combined with the ClimaSalomon Waterproof Membrane (CSWP), the Aerotherm technology not only provides warmth but also dryness by preventing water ingress while remaining breathable.
The non-reflective material structure helps to minimize the visibility of the wearer in dangerous or covert operations.
Fit and Construction
SensiFit System
The SensiFit system encompasses the foot from the midsole to the lacing system, providing a secure, precise, and almost customized fit. The inside of the boot is additionally reinforced to support climbing and rapid abseiling.
Closed Hooks
The closed hooks on the Tundra Forces are designed to minimize the risk of laces snagging on branches, wire, or other challenging terrain. This feature is crucial for the safety and mobility of the wearer, as it eliminates unwanted interruptions and potential hazards during fast and agile movements.
The lacing is regular, meaning the boot does not have the Quicklace system.Rubber Cap and Mudguard
The 3D rubber toe cap effectively protects the toes from impacts and hard strikes while offering abrasion resistance and a waterproof barrier that enhances the durability of the boot and keeps the feet dry. Contagrip Winter Outsole
The Contagrip Winter outsole is specially developed for winter conditions and provides secure grip on icy and snowy surfaces.
The EnergyCell material ensures cushioning and performance in the sole construction. The compressed EVA cushioning material offers enhanced shock absorption. The boot also allows easy attachment of snowshoes.
