The MBDU Shirt NyCo Ripstop MM14 is a field shirt consistently designed for modern operational realities, intended for reconnaissance, covert operations, and long-duration missions. Developed for situations where mobility, durability, and functional integration are critical, it combines robust materials with a cut clearly adapted to the body. As an integral part of the "Modern Battle Dress Uniform System" (MBDU), the shirt can be seamlessly integrated into existing gear setups and supports an efficient, reduced load configuration.
Proven material base for real operational conditions
The main material consists of NyCo Ripstop (50% nylon, 50% cotton) with a weight of 225 g/m² – a combination that has been established in military applications over many years. The nylon content provides high abrasion and tear resistance, while cotton improves wearing comfort and reduces skin irritation during prolonged use.
The characteristic ripstop weave prevents damage from spreading and increases the structural integrity of the fabric. The result is a material that remains stable under intensive use while still offering sufficient breathability to reduce overheating during movement.
Maximum freedom of movement through intelligent material zones
Generous VersaStretch inserts (93% nylon, 7% elastane) are integrated along the entire side panels. This material offers 4-way stretch and adapts immediately to dynamic movements without creating tension in the fabric or restricting mobility.
Especially in kneeling, crawling, or rapidly changing positions, the shirt stays close to the body without riding up or restricting movement. The elastic zones support natural body mechanics and reduce fatigue during extended use.
Thermoregulation and ventilation under load
For use during intensive physical activity, the shirt features ventilation panels in the underarm area. These are made of breathable mesh (100% polyester) and allow continuous air exchange in high-stress zones.
In combination with the breathable properties of the NyCo fabric, this creates a system that efficiently dissipates heat and reduces moisture. This significantly contributes to maintaining performance even during prolonged operations or rising temperatures.
Reinforcements and protection in high-wear areas
The elbow and forearm areas are specifically reinforced to withstand increased mechanical stress. Contact with rough surfaces, obstacles, or frequent bracing significantly extends the shirt’s service life.
Additionally, elbow pad compartments are integrated, allowing the insertion of protective pads (not included). This enables adaptation to specific mission requirements and provides optional extended protection without restricting mobility.
Thoughtful pocket architecture for fast access
The shirt features a total of four functional pockets: Two spacious chest pockets provide room for documents, maps, or flat equipment items and are positioned to remain partially accessible even when wearing load-bearing systems.
The shoulder pockets are additionally equipped with internal loops to securely fix smaller gear items. All pockets are fitted with YKK zippers and ensure reliable operation even under adverse conditions.
Modular adaptability and clear identification
Large loop panels on the shoulders and chest allow flexible attachment of rank insignia, identifiers, or IR markers. This system is complemented by a dedicated rank tab that supports clear and standardized identification.
Ergonomic cut and functional details
The anatomical cut follows natural movement patterns and ensures that the shirt remains stable even during intensive activity. The construction reduces pressure points and prevents excess material that could interfere with equipment.
The stand-up collar can be raised and secured to protect the neck area from friction or external elements. The adjustable cuffs allow precise fitting and prevent sleeve movement during activity.
Operational range between reconnaissance, training, and bushcraft
The MBDU Shirt is specifically designed for reconnaissance operations in forested or structured terrain, where camouflage, mobility, and low noise signature are critical. It supports efficient handling of equipment and remains comfortable even during prolonged use.
