Case
The solid case of the watch has a diameter of 45 mm and is made of high-quality fibre-reinforced polymer. It impresses with its high-quality design, which has passed the MIL-STD-810 military standard. The smartwatch is therefore resistant to wear and tear and scratches. Weighing just 53 grams, it is easy to wear on the wrist. The housing is water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres and is ideal for activities in the water.
Display
The precise framing of the bezel protects the robust Power Glass, which contains a 0.9-inch MIP (Memory-in-Pixel) display of the latest generation. With a resolution of 176 x 176 pixels, it offers excellent readability in bright ambient light and direct sunlight. The display is compatible with night vision devices for tactical use. The buttons integrated in the housing ensure easy operation of the various functions at all times.
Bracelet
The Quickfit wristband made of silicone ensures a secure fit on the wrist thanks to its stainless steel clasp. Various colour options are available in the accessories. It is easy to replace without the need for additional tools.
Technology
Battery
The battery life varies depending on the use of the different functions and scores with impressive values: 28 days in smartwatch mode, 32 days in expedition mode and up to 65 days in energy-saving mode. A powerful lithium-ion battery with additional solar charging function makes this possible and can ensure an almost unlimited runtime, for example in smartwatch mode. The integrated power manager allows the battery life to be extended even further. However, should charging be necessary, this can be done using the specially developed Garmin charging clip.
Operating system
The 32 GB memory and connection options via Bluetooth and ANT+ ensure smooth integration into everyday life and various sporting activities. The uncomplicated compatibility with iPhone and smartphones makes it easy to use. Additional apps and widgets can expand the already extensive functions.
Functions
Clock
The easy-to-read display clearly shows the time, alarm, timer and stopwatch. Various designs are available in the Garmin IQ Shop to customise the display. Automatic adjustment to the respective time zone as well as summer and winter time is carried out via GPS.
Smart functions
The Instinct 2 Solar Tactical Edition can be customised to different situations via the smartphone using the Connect IQ system. Numerous apps, designs, widgets and maps are available for download. With functions such as weather information, calendar entries, contactless payment and access to notifications, you can always stay up to date in the office or in the field.
Health and fitness functions
Whether it's intensive running training or a fitness workout - the smartwatch is ideal for various sweat-inducing training sessions and leisure activities thanks to its wide range of training, planning and analysis functions. Whether in the gym, in nature or in the water - the smartwatch makes it easy to add the necessary apps and activity profiles for strength training, cycling or swimming. Important physiological measurements such as heart and breathing rate, training load, oxygen intake, running routes, stride length and running speed are monitored, displayed and saved in real time. Based on this data, the coach on the wrist develops forecasts and offers advice to ensure personalised training success. At the same time, the smartwatch monitors daily activities as well as health by measuring important factors such as heart rate, stress and sleep.
GPS
The Instinct 2 Solar Tactical Edition relies on three different navigation systems in combination with various outdoor sensors for its multi-satellite reception. This enables more precise positioning worldwide, even in challenging environments such as mountains. The sensors include an altimeter for altitude data, a barometer for weather monitoring and an electronic 3-axis compass. Features such as traceback routing and reference point storage help to determine the exact location and find your way back the same way.
Tactical features
This smartwatch shows its strengths in demanding situations. Among other things, the functions enable parachute jumps, covert operations in the field and countermeasures in dangerous situations. Jumpmaster mode allows you to navigate to the target after deploying the parachute. The night vision mode makes it easy to read the display via NVG, while the stealth mode hides the GPS position in the field and cuts all wireless connections. The kill switch function deletes the entire memory if security is jeopardised, thus preventing the disclosure of tactical data.
