Housing
At 108 grams, the robust plastic housing is very light and tested for thermal performance and impact resistance in accordance with military standard MIL-STD-810. It is also water-resistant in accordance with standard IPX7. This makes the Foretrex 801 extremely durable and resistant on your tours through mountains, caves and open fields.
Display
The watch glass made of hard-wearing acrylic provides a clear view of the 2.2-inch MIP (Memory-in-Pixel) display.
This is characterised by excellent resolution and readability in bright ambient light and direct sunlight. The external buttons in the housing ensure uncomplicated operation of the individual functions at all times. Compatibility with night vision devices makes the Foretrex indispensable for tactical use.Wrist strap
The tactical nylon wristband with Velcro fastener ensures a secure fit on the wrist. The Foretrex 801 is compatible with Quickfit watch straps. These can be easily and independently replaced in the accessories.
Technology
Power source
The Foretrex 801 draws its power source from two AAA batteries. Depending on use, the battery life can be up to 100 hours in GPS mode or up to 1,000 hours in expedition mode.

The device can store a large number of waypoints, maps and routes. Connectivity via Bluetooth, ANT+ and easy compatibility with iPhone and smartphone ensure that the already extensive functions can be expanded with the Garmin Connect system. The device has a USB-C interface.

GPS
By utilising multiple global navigation satellite systems, including GPS, Galileo and GLONASS, the Foretrex achieves multi-frequency reception. This enables multi-frequency positioning accuracy in rough terrain. The additional sensors, including a barometric altimeter, a 3-axis accelerometer and an electronic 3-axis compass, ensure precise navigation on your routes.Leisure functions
Functions such as point-to-point navigation ensure precise route guidance without having to enter a new destination after every stop. Traceback routing helps you find your way back along the same route. The rising and setting of the sun and moon are displayed in the integrated calendar. The area calculation function creates an overall calculation for a specific area after you have travelled through it.
Tactical features
The Foretrex has various tactical functions for use on land and from the air. The stealth mode hides your GPS position in the field and cuts wireless connections. This makes you undetectable. If your position is jeopardised, activate the kill switch mode to delete the entire device memory. Jumpmaster mode allows you to navigate to the target using the HARP (High Altitude Release Point) calculation once the parachute has been deployed. The night vision mode makes it easy to read the display via NVG.

EXPLORE APP
The Garmin Connect system makes it easy to download maps, waypoints or routes and create new customised routes. Activities that have already been completed can also be displayed. So you can create your own new adventure.
