Eberlestock X2 Pack V2 Dry Earth – Hunting Backpack Designed for Carrying Heavy Loads
The Eberlestock X2 Pack V2 Dry Earth offers more than just storage space. With a capacity of 40.15 liters and a weight of approximately 2.5 kg, this hunting backpack allows additional equipment to be carried outside the main compartment. Eberlestock combines a lightweight, sturdy aluminum frame with generously sized side pockets and heavy-duty compression straps. The pack system is equally suitable for hiking and travel.
Microsuede in Dry Earth
The exterior is made from DWR-treated Microsuede. This material is designed to minimize noise when handling the backpack, even when brushing against branches and dense vegetation. Its water-repellent treatment helps prevent light moisture from penetrating the outer fabric but does not replace full rain protection. For additional coverage, the separately available Eberlestock Small Reversible Rain Cover can be used.
Two Access Points for Easier Gear Retrieval
The main compartment can be packed in the traditional way from the top through a drawstring opening. An additional zipper along the front provides access to items stored deeper inside the pack. This means equipment remains accessible even when packed at the bottom, reducing the need to unpack and rearrange other gear. In total, the X2 features four main compartments along with additional storage options for smaller items.
The lid is adjustable as well. Its position can be adapted to the load, leaving room between the lid and the main pack body for equipment that does not fit inside, such as a tripod or long gun. An elastic hydration bladder holder with a hanging loop is integrated into the interior. It accommodates separately available hydration bladders with a capacity of up to three liters.
Wing Pockets with Additional Storage Options
The large wing-shaped side pockets are a defining feature of the X2. Their design provides space for longer items such as a spotting scope, trekking poles, or rolled-up rain gear. Smaller equipment can be stored in elastic slip pockets and zippered stretch compartments, keeping accessories organized rather than loose inside the main compartment. The inner surfaces of the wings also feature MOLLE webbing for attaching compatible accessory pouches.
Compression and MOLLE for Different Load Configurations
Additional MOLLE attachment points on the main compartment, sides, bottom, and hip belt allow equipment to be arranged according to individual requirements. Horizontal and vertical compression straps are provided for securing items carried externally. Their cross-pattern configuration helps keep bulkier loads firmly attached to the pack body. When the X2 is not fully loaded, both wings can be pulled closer together. This keeps the overall profile more compact without sacrificing the storage capacity of the side pockets.
Frame and Suspension System for Additional Loads
An Intex aluminum frame with an extended design forms the structural support along the back of the pack. It stabilizes the backpack and provides the foundation for carrying equipment beyond its internal storage capacity. The external straps secure these additional loads in place. The Floating Harness System connects the shoulder straps and hip belt and is designed to allow air to circulate along the back. This makes ventilation an integral part of the carrying system, particularly on longer hikes. Despite its external load-carrying capabilities, the X2 remains a relatively compact backpack with a capacity of approximately 40 liters.
