Description
Layered cold protection with merino mesh
The Brynje Tactical Arctic Hat brings three layers together in a hat weighing just 70 g. Its construction follows the principle of the Arctic range: mesh against the skin, solid wool knit above it. A fold-over edge adds warmth retention for cold-weather operations in professional law enforcement and military settings.
Reinforced edge and flat seams
Folding the edge creates a double thickness around the lower section of the hat. This additional fabric increases insulation in that area. For a comfortable fit, the joins use flat Flatlock seams that add little bulk and limit friction against the skin.
Insulating layers with air pockets
Fine merino wool mesh forms the next-to-skin layer, its open structure trapping insulating air. Above it, two solid-knit wool layers form the outer part of the construction and complement the mesh’s insulating effect. Despite its multiple layers, the construction remains breathable and supports moisture transfer.
The mesh fabric and outer knit each consist of 80% merino wool and 20% polyamide. Merino wool gives them a soft, itch-free feel. Polyamide increases the durability of the blend.

The Brynje ranges at a glance
Wool Thermo combines merino wool with an open mesh construction and is particularly suited to low to moderate activity in cool to cold conditions. Super Thermo uses synthetic mesh to transfer moisture and heat during varying levels of exertion in cold or wet weather. For cold conditions, Arctic combines an inner mesh layer with a warm wool outer layer. Classic offers versatile, solid-knit merino base layers that can be worn directly against the skin or over a mesh layer.
Care instructions
Dry and air the garments after use. Washing is not necessary after every wear. Wash as needed to remove sweat and salt residues. Machine wash only on the wool cycle at the temperature specified on the care label, up to a maximum of 40 °C. Use a wool detergent without enzymes or bleach, dose sparingly and do not overload the drum. Do not use fabric softener, soak or treat with chlorine.
After washing, gently reshape the garment while still damp and preferably dry it flat. Do not hang heavy, dripping-wet garments on a hanger, as they may stretch out of shape. Do not tumble dry.
