The founder of Nalgene originally developed plastic bottles for laboratory use that needed to be particularly leak-proof. In the 1960s, outdoor-enthusiast employees repurposed the bottles, leading Nalgene to realize their potential for outdoor adventures. This creative use inspired the company to further develop the bottles specifically for outdoor activities – making them lightweight, durable, and reliable.
