Compact Firestarter for Every Adventure
The Light My Fire Swedish FireSteel BIO Scout 2in1 magnesium ignition tool sets the standard in reliability and durability. Originally developed for the challenging conditions of military use, this firestarter meets highest requirements and is the foundation of any survival equipment. Weighing just 38g, the scout fire steel is a compact lightweight that can be easily carried in any situation.
Ergonomic Design with Integrated Signal Whistle
Despite the small dimensions, the fire steel and scraper fit comfortably in hand to protect fingers during repeated use. The sharp-edged stainless-steel guarantees optimal and efficient spark formation and preserves the knives edge. The integrated emergency whistle in the scraper reaches a penetrating 120dB, making it suitable for emergency signaling or communication over distances. The rod is made of a pyrophoric metal alloy of iron, magnesium, lanthanum, and cerium, designed for a long lifespan. A special feature of both parts is the use of the sustainable bio-plastic Terralene for the handles, which is distinguished by being made from renewable resources and is also fully recyclable. To securely keep the two-part set together, both components are connected with a cord.
Reliable Fire Lighting
Technical failures, an empty gas tank, too cold temperatures, or other lighter-typical malfunctions are things of the past with the swedish fire steel. It performs unaffected by temperature, wind, and moisture, with a capacity of up to 3.000 ignitions and spark temperatures of almost 3.000°C in the most adverse conditions in the jungle, high mountains, the Arctic, or the desert. Thus, this fire steel is an indispensable item for every survival kit. But it also ignites alcohol, gasoline, or gas stoves without any problems in daily outdoor use.
Making Fire with the Fire Steel
To start a fire, fine tinder must be taken along or collected on-site. The dryer it is, the higher the likelihood of a quick fire. Classic natural tinder materials include birch bark, dry grass, or fine wood shavings. After the fire site has been prepared with the tinder and fuel of varying thickness, the hot sparks are struck onto the tinder to ignite it. With the first flame, the fire is slowly built up with thin twigs until thick branches can be added to the campfire.
