Tactical smartphone case
While the original Thyrm DarkVault continues to serve as a universal gear case for sensitive equipment, the DarkVault 2.0 has been specifically designed for the use of smartphones in demanding operations. The DarkVault 2.0 can be easily attached to plate carriers and chest rigs, allowing for quick and unrestricted use of the smartphone for tactical navigation, ballistic information, ad-hoc mesh communication, or other applications.
Since the DarkVault 2.0 is designed to work with standard phone cases, there is no need to use bulky or conspicuous smartphone cases when combining the phone with tactical gear.Tactical signal reduction
The concept behind the Thyrm DarkVault Blocking models is to significantly hinder the access and location of your phone without having to completely store it in a Faraday bag or turn it off entirely. Thyrm's specially developed polymer reduces signal transmission by up to 110dB.
However, it is still possible that the phone may connect to networks despite being in the DarkVault, especially near strong Wi-Fi routers or 5G/cell towers. When the phone is inside the Thyrm DarkVault, signal transmission is drastically reduced, particularly when there is sufficient distance from these major sources. Bluetooth devices can still communicate through the DarkVault, as Bluetooth operates at a higher frequency (with limited range). This allows for the use of mesh antenna systems like goTenna Pro and Otto Lynq Pro, as well as most headphones.
Although using the DarkVault can significantly improve operational security, all these features should be considered when it comes to the specific use of the DarkVault!Smartphone compatibility
Thyrm has designed the phone mount and viewing window of the DarkVault 2.0 to be compatible with most smartphones available on the market, including those from Samsung, Apple, and Google.

Most phone cases marketed as "Slim," "Sleek," or "Minimalist" are compatible, and even some cases labeled as "Shockproof" or "Military Grade" fit as well. However, cases that consist of two parts (top/bottom), with bumpers, kickstands, rings, or those with sliding camera covers are generally too large.
When in doubt, it’s worth comparing the dimensions of the case in question with the specified measurements.
Examples of compatible cases include: UAG Pathfinder, Apple-branded cases, Crave Dual Guard, and OtterBox Symmetry. Cases that are not compatible include: Unicorn Beetle by SupCase and the OtterBox Defender series.
