Détails du produit
Tactical GPS Navigation with Multiband Technology
The Garmin GPSMAP H1 is a rugged handheld GPS device designed for reliable orientation and route navigation in challenging terrain. It combines multiband GPS and multi-GNSS with a large color touchscreen, physical control buttons, and extensive mapping capabilities.
Construction
Rugged Design
The GPSMAP H1 is designed for use in changing environmental conditions. Its MIL-STD-810-tested housing meets all requirements regarding temperature resistance, shock resistance, and water resistance. The IP67 protection rating ensures protection against dust and temporary immersion in water. With dimensions of 6.7 x 17.9 x 3.3 cm and a weight of 276 grams, the handheld device can be stowed in outdoor equipment or carried directly on the body. An integrated mounting system on the back of the housing and the included removable webbing loop with carabiner clip provide various attachment options. The device is also compatible with separately available mounting adapters for additional mounting configurations.
Display and Controls
The 3.5-inch transflective TFT color display with a resolution of 282 x 470 pixels provides a clear overview of maps, positioning data, and navigation information. Chemically strengthened glass protects the screen surface, while the display technology supports good readability even in direct sunlight. The hybrid control system combining a touchscreen and physical buttons enables flexible operation under different conditions. Maps can be moved and zoomed directly on the display. The additional buttons make operation easier in adverse weather conditions or while wearing gloves. A customizable shortcut button provides direct access to frequently used functions.
Technology
Multiband GPS and Multi-GNSS
For satellite-based positioning, the Garmin GPSMAP H1 uses multiband GPS with multi-GNSS support. By processing signals from multiple satellite systems and frequency bands, the device supports accurate location determination. This technology offers advantages over using a single satellite system, particularly in topographically challenging environments. Navigation features include point-to-point navigation, saved waypoints, and routes. The integrated TracBack feature enables return navigation along a previously recorded track. The device also supports GPX file import for using previously planned routes.
Topographic Maps and Satellite Imagery
The GPSMAP H1 comes with preloaded TopoActive maps for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, along with easily accessible global mapping data. The maps display contour lines, terrain features, bodies of water, coastlines, and prominent landmarks, among other geographical details. This allows users to assess geographical conditions directly on the handheld device and incorporate them into route planning. Additionally, high-resolution satellite imagery can be downloaded via Wi-Fi directly to the GPS device. The photorealistic imagery complements the topographic maps and facilitates visual assessment of trails, terrain structures, and selected waypoints. The integrated storage capacity is 64 GB, although the actual available storage depends on the preloaded maps. Storage capacity can be expanded by up to 1 TB using a microSD card.
Battery and Runtime
Power is supplied by an integrated rechargeable lithium-ion battery. When using all satellite systems, including multiband, the GPSMAP H1 achieves a runtime of up to 145 hours. This figure is based on typical use with Garmin's SatIQ technology, which supports the use of different satellite modes. For longer trips, a power-saving Expedition Mode with up to 840 hours of battery life is available. Actual runtime depends on the selected settings and the use of individual functions. The device features a USB-C port for charging and wired data transfer.
ABC Sensors and Additional Outdoor Features
For navigation away from marked trails, the GPSMAP H1 features integrated ABC sensors. A barometric altimeter provides elevation data, the barometer allows users to monitor changes in atmospheric pressure, and an electronic 3-axis compass provides directional information. An integrated LED flashlight provides additional illumination in the dark and can be used as a visual signal. An audible siren is also available to attract attention when necessary. Additional outdoor features include area calculation, Geocaching Live, and a sun and moon calendar.
Tactical Navigation Features
For applications with specific map display requirements, the Garmin GPSMAP H1 supports dual-grid coordinates and a night vision mode. The latter provides an adapted display mode for use with night vision devices. The handheld GPS device is also compatible with Garmin AB Quantum and supports a ballistic calculator, which requires separate activation. These features provide additional options for specialized applications alongside conventional outdoor navigation functions.
Smart Connectivity and Weather Information
The Garmin Explore App allows the GPSMAP H1 to be connected to a compatible smartphone for digital route planning. The application supports locating geographical points, planning routes, and sharing planned routes. The corresponding online functions require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection and a compatible smartphone.
With the LiveTrack feature, selected contacts can track the current position and access information about distance, time, and elevation. This requires an active cellular connection and the Garmin Connect App on a paired smartphone.
Current Garmin weather information can be retrieved through the Garmin Explore App when a Wi-Fi or cellular connection is available. This allows changing weather conditions to be taken into account during a trip.
Compatibility with inReach Devices
The GPSMAP H1 supports an inReach remote control widget for use with compatible Garmin inReach devices. Satellite communication is handled by the separately connected inReach device rather than directly by the GPSMAP H1.
Important: Unlike the GPSMAP H1i Plus, this model does not feature integrated inReach satellite communication. Therefore, the GPSMAP H1 cannot independently send satellite messages or initiate interactive SOS emergency alerts.
