Multispectral Task Light for Helmet and Gear
The STREAMLIGHT Sidewinder Compact III is a modular, hands-free task light designed for military and law enforcement use. Engineered for mounting on helmets, load-bearing systems, and personal equipment, it provides mission-adaptive illumination through multiple light sources while maintaining a high level of operational reliability.
Construction
Housing
The 185-degree tilting housing is manufactured from high-strength polymer and optimized for low weight and high durability. The light is impact-resistant and rated IPX7 for protection against temporary submersion. The rotating light head allows precise beam positioning without changing the mounting position of the light itself. All openings are sealed with O-rings to prevent the ingress of water and dust. An additional retention hole supports lanyards or safety cords with a load capacity of approximately 12 kg. The robust belt and equipment clip with integrated helmet interface simplifies attachment to vests and helmet adapters.
Technology
Light System
The Sidewinder Compact III features multiple integrated LEDs to support different operational requirements. In addition to white light, the unit provides red, blue, and infrared (IR) illumination for tactical and specialized applications.
Operation
Light color selection is controlled mechanically via a rugged rotary selector, preventing accidental mode changes. Activation is handled through a pressure-resistant push button integrated into the selector, allowing reliable operation even while wearing gloves. Multiple output levels for each light color enable adaptation to mission profile, ambient light conditions, and tactical requirements. The clear separation of color selection and activation increases operational safety under stress.
Power Supply
The light is powered by a CR123A lithium battery or alternatively by a single AA battery. This dual-power capability ensures continued operation even with limited logistical support. The electronics are designed for extended runtimes and consistent light output.
Mounting and Integration
The light is compatible with helmet mounts, head straps, and equipment adapters. Thanks to its compact form factor, it is particularly well suited for use on combat helmets, protective helmets, or directly on load-bearing equipment without restricting freedom of movement.
