Operational Footwear for Amphibious Missions
The new Salomon Amphib Assault was designed for scenarios where the transition between water and land must be seamless. With its durable construction, water-resistant materials, and stable form, it is tailored for operations along coastlines, riverbanks, and in wet terrain.
Upper
The upper is made of Matryx textile reinforced with Kevlar fibers. This combination ensures very low weight while providing high abrasion resistance. For effective protection against moisture, Salomon uses a PFC-free water-repellent treatment, which is more environmentally friendly yet reliably keeps water at bay.
To speed up water drainage after immersion, the shoe integrates drainage ports and breathable mesh zones. The textile lining dries quickly, preventing the build-up of heat or moisture. Combined with its matte, non-reflective surface, the shoe is equally suitable for covert operations where discretion is essential.
Design & Fit
Mid-Cut Design
The mid-cut shaft provides additional ankle stability without restricting freedom of movement – a construction proven effective on rocky shorelines as well as soft, uneven ground.
Sensifit System
An internal structure cradles the foot like a second skin. This prevents pressure points, enhances stability during fast movements, and ensures a secure fit even in wet conditions.
Sole Construction
Midsole
For cushioning, Salomon relies on EnergyCell EVA foam. This high-performance foam effectively absorbs shocks, minimizing fatigue during long marches or quick directional changes.
Outsole
The outsole combines Water Contagrip with Contagrip FD. The tread, with its flat and partially siped lugs, is engineered for wet or slippery surfaces, offering reliable grip in such environments. Thanks to the non-marking Contagrip compound, the shoe leaves no scuff marks on sensitive floors or decks.
Insole
A lightweight EVA insole adds further cushioning and comfort. It is durable enough for daily use yet easily replaceable when needed.
Lacing System
Quicklace with Storage Pocket
Salomon’s patented Quicklace system allows for rapid tightening or loosening of the shoe. Excess lace is neatly tucked into the integrated pocket in the tongue, preventing snagging or unwanted movement.
