Steel Carabiner for Heavy Duty Use
The Petzl Vulcan Tritac-Lock is a large carabiner with exceptionally high breaking strength and an automatic 3-way locking mechanism. Made entirely of steel, it is designed for critical connections in rescue operations as well as for everyday use in tough environments. Unlike typical climbing carabiners, the Petzl Vulcan meets additional demands with a wide range of certifications.
Reliable Heavy-Duty Performance
By using steel for the entire construction, the carabiner weighs a solid 265 grams with an outstanding breaking strength of 45kN lengthwise and 16kN sideways. Compared to aluminum carabiners, it offers a long lifespan as steel is significantly more resistant to abrasion. When used as a connection to the winch of a helicopter, steel carabiners are valued for their durability and load-bearing capacity. Steel carabiners are also ideal when connecting to sharp-edged steel bolt hangers in scenarios with planned loads, where aluminum carabiners can easily suffer from sharp edges.
Ergonomic Shape with Plenty of Space
The proven H-profile protects the markings from abrasion and provides the carabiner with that extra grip, making it easy to handle even with wet gloves. The rounded edges make it easier to rotate for optimal alignment and are gentle on materials. With its D-shape, it is perfect for connecting ropes or slings to an anchor point as well as for attaching a rappel device. The high-quality craftsmanship is also evident in the precise Keylock system, which prevents snagging when hooking in and out.
