The Falke TK2 Explore Cool Short is a short sock for emergency services, bushcrafters and outdoor enthusiasts who need reliable footwear even in high temperatures and during strenuous activity. Designed for light to moderate mountain terrain, it comes into its own in situations such as observation posts, patrols or long tours in the field.
Design & fit
The TK2 Explore Cool Short scores with an ergonomic cut and a precise fit that is specially tailored to outdoor movement. The ankle-length short cut allows the sock to extend just above the shoe, providing maximum freedom in light shoes or mid-height boots while keeping the heel securely protected. Their anatomical left/right construction ensures a wrinkle-free fit, reduces friction and effectively prevents blisters during long marches. This is complemented by medium padding that is specifically located in the ball and heel areas. It cushions hard impacts without adding extra volume to the shoe.
Sole & layer structure
The sole and layer structure of the TK2 Explore Cool Short is based on a robust three-layer system developed for use in demanding outdoor conditions. A functional inner layer works directly on the skin, absorbing moisture and wicking it away to the outside so that feet stay dry even during high levels of activity. On top of this is a cushioning core that provides targeted cushioning in the ball and heel areas and noticeably reduces hard impacts without restricting ground feel. The outer layer forms the finish, ensuring stability and shape retention and withstanding even abrasive materials such as boots or trekking shoes. This layer concept combines comfort, durability and protection in a compact form.
Material
The material mix of the TK2 Explore Cool Short is designed for maximum functionality. Approximately 42% polypropylene provides a quick-drying foundation that reliably wicks away moisture and keeps the skin dry. Around 30% lyocell, a fibre of plant origin, provides a cooling effect that ensures a fresh feeling when worn. Polyamide, at 15%, makes the fabric durable and keeps its shape even under stress, while 12% polyester further supports drying and stabilises the structure. A small amount of 1% elastane ensures flexibility and a good fit without creating pressure points. This combination of materials guarantees effective moisture management, prevents overheating and ensures a dry climate for the feet, even during long marches or in poorly ventilated shoes.
