  The 3-seasons sleeping bag in Multicam Black

  It is widely referred to as a "tactical legend" and the 3-season sleeping bag, the Carinthia Defence 4, also lives up to this name. With its highly functional properties put through their tactical paces, the military sleeping bag is one of the absolute bestsellers in its class: super compact and lightweight, yet made for a temperature range up to -15°C and smartly designed so that even the toughest nights down to -35°C are feasible. The mummy sleeping bag makes use of the combination of cut and material properties to shine as a real insulation miracle.
  
  

  Material for harsh weather conditions

  The robust sleeping bag is constructed of two main layers, which together lead to ideal heat retention: The waterproof outer material protects against moisture and wind and is closed by the zipper with a zipper cover strip on top; thus, even in wind and weather, the sleeping bag remains sealed. For comfort in demanding temperature ranges up to -15°C, the G-Loft provides insulation. G-Loft is particularly known for its light structure and good compressibility.
  
  

  2-layer construction with G-Loft insulation

  The material system of the Defence 4 is made of a smart 2-layer construction: An additional air cushion between the quilted, insulating layer and the outer shell prevents the cold from entering the inner of the sleeping bag. The differential cut ensures that heat is retained in a controlled manner, even when the sleeper's mass compresses the inner layer of insulation. The generously cut insulation pads are cut in a way that there is always enough space between the individual layers. Thus, the outer layers retain their insulating ability and the sleeping bag easily withstands -15° C.
  
  

  Carinthia Defence 4 x Tropen

  For use in particularly cold temperatures, the Carinthia Defence 4 and Tropen can be combined. The sleeping bags can be fixed at the foot area using sewn-in loops and a cord or small carabiners. Due to the different cut patterns, the formation of cold bridges is effectively reduced. The combination of both sleeping bags achieves a heat performance equivalent to that of the Carinthia Defence 6, making it an ideal solution for extremely cold conditions.
  
  

  Defence 4 Size Selection

  The Carinthia Defence 4 is available in three sizes: M (185) for individuals up to 185 cm tall,L (200) for those up to 200 cm, and XL (220) for people up to 220 cm. Choosing the right size depends on your height to ensure an optimal fit and maximum thermal efficiency.
  
  

  Trapezoid shape and combinability with Tropen sleeping bag

  Like all Carinthia military sleeping bags, the Defence 4 has a trapezoidal cut, giving it room in the footwell for stowing gear or clothing. Most importantly, its generous shape also makes space for the combination with a tropical summer sleeping bag: The Defence 4 sleeping bag can be upgraded with the “Tropen” and can thus be made into a proper 4-season sleeping bag. The combination with the Carinthia Tropical Summer Sleeping Bag brings the thermal performance to a new top. The Carinthia-typical two-way zipper, which can always be opened quickly thanks to clamp protection waistband, can be opened for better ventilation. In the typical small pack size, the Defence 4 can be stored and transported in your tactical luggage without much effort.

  Proper storage

  G-LOFT sleeping bags should always be stored uncompressed to maintain the insulation performance of the filling. The ideal storage method is hanging, open, or with unzipped closures in a large mesh bag such as the Carinthia Storage Bag Net in a dry, well-ventilated area. The filling needs enough space to expand and recover. The stuff sack should only be used for transport, never roll the sleeping bag but rather stuff it from the foot end with the zipper open. Repeated rolling places strain on the same areas of the filling and can damage the construction.
  
  

  Care instructions for G-LOFT sleeping bags

  G-LOFT sleeping bags are machine washable (delicate cycle, max. 30°C) and suitable for tumble drying on low heat. Before washing, close all zippers, open the drawstrings, and turn the sleeping bag inside out. A washing machine with at least 7kg capacity is required. The gentlest cleaning method is handwashing in warm water with synthetic fiber detergent. After washing, rinse several times to remove detergent residues. Spin at a maximum of 500 rpm, then air dry – avoid direct sunlight. Machine drying is possible on very low heat in the gentlest program. Shake the bag during drying; for heavy sleeping bags over 2kg, an industrial dryer is recommended.

  Ich will hier kein Glaubensbekenntnis abgeben, sondern nur meine Meinung. Ich weiß, dass dieser Schlafsack geliebt oder gehasst wird. Dazwischen gibt es kaum etwas. Ich habe auch keine Vergleichsmöglichkeit innerhalb der gleichen Produktsparten (militärischer Schlafsack dieser Leistungsklasse) und brauche auch aktuell keine. Dazu muss ich noch ergänzen, dass ich persönlich aber auch gar nichts auf Comfort- / Limit - / Extremtemperaturbereiche gebe. Das sind normierte Laborwerte, die bestenfalls Anhaltspunkte sein können. In der Wirklichkeit sieht die Sache individuell sehr unterschiedlich aus. Während mir noch kuschelig warm ist, stirbt der weibliche Part schon den Kältetod :-) Ich kenne den Schlafsack noch aus meiner Militärzeit und schon da hat er mir gute Dienste geleistet, sodass ich bzw. wir ihn mitlerweile auch privat nutzen. Was einem klar sein muss: Die Funktion folgt hier dem Design. Ja, das Ding hat ein Packmaß, wie ein Putzeimer. Ja, das Ding wiegt so viel wie ein ordentlicher Ziegelstein. Der Schlafsack ist aber deutlich pflegeleichter, als es jeder Daunenschlafsack sein könnte (richtige Lagerung vorausgesetzt). Er verzeiht auch Fehler in der Benutzung, und ist sehr robust. Die Verarbeitung und die Reißverschlüsse sind herausragend. Und die Farbgebung gefällt mir. Ich liebe diesen Olivton irgendwie :-) Wem das klar ist, wird sich über ein hervorragendes Produkt freuen.
