The GR1 in the US Edition is the champ among Goruck backpacks: developed with the help of the US Special Forces, manufactured in the US and designed for missions from Baghdad to Berlin, from mountain to desert, for ruckers or task forces. Since they started out, Goruck has worked with only one measure of quality: The experience and feedback of the Special Forces. Only the toughest conditions and roughest requirements are good enough as a test and with the GR1, a backpack has been created that is rightly one of the most robust of its kind.
Indestructible Cordura and stabilizing frame plate
When it comes to the material, Goruck relies on the rugged and water- and dirt-resistant CORDURA 1000 den, which is typical of most products in the Goruck product line. Virtually indestructible and heavy-duty, it guarantees trouble-free loading - and for the necessary stability, the removable hard plastic frame plate is built in. The everyday suitability of the universal backpack was meant to be kept in mind as well though, which resulted in a laptop compartment being built into the back, which is completely padded in accordance with tactical standards and with two layers of padding and a double padded bottom.
The main compartment of the backpack opens flat to expose the three interior pockets, which are inset for better organization: A large elastic pocket, a large zippered mesh pocket and a small carry pocket, and another slanted slip pocket outside are super accessible for quickly sliding in small items. All zippers are YKK zippers that open silently and are easy to grip even when wearing gloves.
Carry-on size for use on an airplane
3 internal and external M.O.L.L.E. rows are used as usual for better combinability with small pieces of equipment. The larger of the two GR1 backpacks has 26 liters of volume, which is a full 5 liters more storage space than its smaller cousin. Nevertheless, even the 26 liter backpack still fits under the seat on a plane.
